Hulu has ordered Ryan Coogler's upcoming X-Files continuation to series, with Coogler directing the pilot and executive producing alongside showrunner Jennifer Yale.
The project stars Danielle Deadwyler and Himesh Patel as distinct FBI agents exploring unexplained phenomena.
The film stars Danielle Deadwyler and Himesh Patel as two FBI agents. Their characters are not the familiar Mulder and Scully, but are described as two experienced and completely different agents who take over a long-forgotten and closed agency that deals with unexplained events.
Ryan Coogler wrote and directed the first episode, and will continue to serve as executive producer on the remaining episodes. Jennifer Yale will serve as executive producer.
Although plot details are being kept under wraps, statements that have been made suggest that the new series functions more as a continuation of the original world rather than a completely new beginning from scratch.
