ProtonUp-Qt 2.16 is now available for Linux users managing Windows game compatibility tools.
This release adds proton-wineland support, fixes installation directory paths for GE-Proton 11-4 and newer, resolves Proton-RTSP bugs, and corrects Heroic Games Launcher GOG and Epic game lists.
The AppImage build process has also migrated to uv and Nix.
The most significant addition to the current release is support for the proton-wineland tool. Users can now select, install, and manage it directly from within the application environment.
The update also brings fixes for previous issues. Among them, an issue with the installation folder that affected GE-Proton versions 11-4 and later has been resolved, making it easier for those playing Windows games through the Steam platform. At the same time, an issue that prevented the Proton-RTSP tool from installing correctly has been fixed.
For those using the Heroic Games Launcher, the new version fixes issues displaying titles from the GOG and Epic Games stores by improving the way the app recognizes games.
Furthermore, the creators changed the way the program is built using the uv and Nix tools, a change that mainly concerns the maintenance staff and does not affect daily use by players.
The new version is available on the project's GitHub page as an AppImage file, which users can download and open. Alternatively, the creators recommend installing via Flathub, although they note that the update there may be a few days late.
