TikTok gets food guide with restaurant recommendations

TikTok has introduced Must Eat, a community-driven restaurant guide that aggregates over 40 million posts and comments to power structured filtering by city, cuisine, and price.

The feature includes OpenTable booking integration and initial rollouts in select US cities.

On October 28, 2026, the platform introduced “Must Eat,” a guide based on community posts and comments. Many users had been discovering new places through videos, but now the app brings all of those suggestions together in one place.

How "Must Eat" works

The feature leverages more than 40 million posts and comments to create restaurant lists. Users can search for establishments by city and filter results based on cuisine, price, ratings, and location.

The proposals are divided into two categories:

  • "Everyday Eats", for everyday hangouts.
  • "Elevated Dining", for more formal restaurants.

Additionally, at selected restaurants, users can make reservations directly through the app, thanks to a partnership with OpenTable.

Where is it available?

The new feature is rolling out initially in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Users can find it through search, the local feed, restaurant pages, and links in videos.
