PCMag tested 80 PC cases across ATX, MicroATX, and Mini-ITX sizes since 2024 using standardized hardware including an Intel Core i7-13700K and Corsair liquid cooling to determine acoustic performance.
How were the tests conducted?
To ensure accuracy, the same basic components were used throughout: Asus motherboards, an Intel Core i7-13700K processor, a PNY GeForce RTX 4070 Ti graphics card, and a Corsair liquid cooling system. The cases were divided into three categories based on their size: ATX, MicroATX, and Mini-ITX.
The noise measurement was done with a sound level meter from a distance of 25 centimeters, while the final results were adjusted to the one-meter measurement standards. It is noted that boxes that had no fans or only one fan were excluded from the awards for best acoustic performance.
The winners by category
In the large ATX case category, the SilverStone FLP02 won first place. It is a model with a retro design reminiscent of the 90s, which has three pre-installed fans.
