WhatsApp is rolling out guest calling, allowing users without an account to join 1:1 and group calls via browser.
The feature requires host approval before a guest can connect and restricts guest permissions from viewing phone numbers or initiating calls.
How guest participation works
Those without an account will be able to participate in private two-person conversations or group calls using just a web browser. However, there are significant limitations.
Guests can't start a call themselves, but can only receive and accept an invitation. To join, they must first get approval from the person hosting the call. Once they join, they can't see other participants' phone numbers, send messages, or add new members.
Features and future additions
Once their entry is approved, guests can use tools such as screen sharing, raising their hand, and sending emojis, with no time limit on their participation.
