How a personal tracking problem became MarketPulse AI: Gold, Silver, currencies, EPF, calculators and an AI assistant that explains the data without telling you what to buy
The NIFTY 50 closed at 26,216 on 26 September 2024, a record close at the time. On 1 October 2026, it closed at around 22,422, about 14.5% lower.
That isn’t a story about “the market is down.” Different funds and categories behave very differently. But it made me ask a question I couldn’t shake:
Are we really diversified if most of our investments are exposed to the same market?
Over the past few months, in my free time, I built MarketPulse AI to help me answer it. It’s live at https://marketpulseai.app.
Why I built it
I used to invest primarily in the Indian stock market.
What about the rest of the global investment landscape?
We are entering a period where AI, semiconductors, data centres, electrification, geopolitics and global supply chains are becoming increasingly important to the economy.
Yet, as an Indian investor, getting direct exposure to some of the companies and sectors driving these trends isn’t always straightforward.
Companies such as NVIDIA, AMD, Broadcom and TSMC are at the centre of the global AI and semiconductor ecosystem.
This doesn’t mean Indian equities are not attractive.
It simply made me think:
Should all of our investment exposure come from one market?
That led me to explore diversification across different asset classes.
Gold
Gold has historically been considered a store of wealth and a diversification asset. For someone looking for exposure to the underlying metal, gold bullion/market exposure is different from buying jewellery, where making charges and other costs can play a significant role.
Silver
Silver is interesting because it is both a precious metal and an industrial metal. It is used across electronics, solar panels and other industrial applications — and the growth of technology and infrastructure could continue to influence its demand.
Global markets — AI & Semiconductors
The companies building the infrastructure behind AI are largely concentrated outside India. NVIDIA, AMD, Broadcom, TSMC and many others are part of a global technology ecosystem that Indian investors may want to understand and track.
Copper
Another interesting area is copper. AI infrastructure, data centres, electrification and power infrastructure all require significant amounts of electrical wiring and infrastructure, making copper an important material to watch. At the same time, copper supply growth isn’t necessarily keeping pace with all of the potential demand drivers.
For Indian investors, accessing copper exposure is also less straightforward compared with traditional Indian asset classes.
There are international ETFs such as COPX and CPER, although investing internationally also comes with additional considerations around regulations, currency and taxation.
Crypto
Crypto is another asset class that has become difficult to ignore.
I’m not suggesting that everyone should invest in crypto.
But for someone trying to understand the broader global financial landscape, Bitcoin and the crypto market have become important markets to track.
Diversifying created a new problem: tracking it all.
Every morning meant opening three to five apps to see what had moved. Gold on one, crypto on another, US markets somewhere else, and my EPF and calculators somewhere else again. Switching between fragmented views isn’t a good foundation for a clear decision.
So I built the tool I wanted, for myself first. It’s now open for anyone to use.
What MarketPulse AI is (and isn’t)
MarketPulse AI is a tracking and information platform for a diversified portfolio. It is not a trading platform. It doesn’t execute trades, hold your money, or tell you what to buy or sell.
The idea is simple: one place to understand the markets and your money, without information overload.
A walkthrough, page by page
Dashboard
Your starting point. The latest prices and how they’ve moved, along with the time the data was last updated.
Gold & Silver
The most detailed page on the platform.
Prices in INR and USD, with a long price chart. The platform holds about ten years of Gold and Silver history.
Changes over 1 day, 7 days, 30 days, year-to-date, 1, 3, 5 and 10 years.
52-week high and low.
The Gold/Silver ratio: how many ounces of silver it takes to buy one ounce of gold, shown against a broad historical band, with a plain-language explanation of how to read it.
One thing I made sure to be honest about: these are international spot benchmark prices. What you pay for jewellery, coins or a local ETF will differ because of making charges, taxes and dealer premiums.
Currency Converter
Convert between 10 currencies (INR, USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, AUD, CAD, CHF, SGD and AED) using European Central Bank reference rates. It also shows a historical chart for the pair, with 1-year, 5-year and 10-year changes, so you can see where a rate has been, not just where it is today.
EPF Tracker and Quick Calculator
If you’re salaried in India, your EPF is probably the largest long-term asset you never look at. There are two parts:
The tracker (logged in): set up your contributions and credit day, and it updates your balance each month. Interest is calculated monthly and added at the financial-year end, modelled on how an EPFO account works.
The quick calculator (no login): project your EPF balance between two dates, see the month-by-month breakdown, and export it as CSV.
These are estimates, not official EPFO figures. Your passbook is the source of truth, and the page says so.
Calculators
FD calculator
NPS calculator
FD vs SIP vs step-up SIP comparison, which puts the three side by side with tax treatment included
Each page states its assumptions and the tax rules it uses.
AI Assistant
You can ask a market question in plain language and get an answer with a chart where it helps. For example, how Gold or Silver has moved recently, or a currency conversion.
What matters more is what it won’t do. The assistant answers only from the data already stored on the platform. It doesn’t give recommendations or predictions, and it declines questions like “what should I buy?” It’s a way to get at the data faster, not a source of advice. There’s a daily question limit per user.
Articles
Market and finance articles organised by category. The idea is context, not tips.
Articles will be added soon on common financial terminologies, rules, how to use the MarketPulseAI platform etc.
Email updates
You choose which emails you want, and you can change this any time in your profile.
- Daily Gold & Silver update, around 9:30 AM IST. It includes prices (and per-gram conversions in INR), the change from yesterday, historical comparisons, the Gold/Silver ratio, and a short explainer on why these prices move. A “near 52-week high/low” note appears only on days when it’s actually true.
- Weekly article digest, on Sundays.
- Monthly EPF update, on your credit day.
- Yearly EPF summary, on 31 December.
Account, feedback and the small things
Sign-in uses an email one-time code, and password reset works the same way. You can edit your profile, set your preferred currency and notification preferences, and change your password. There’s also a feedback page for bugs and suggestions, plus About and Disclaimer pages.
See it on mobile
I recorded a short walkthrough of the mobile experience, with a voice-over:
How the data works
- Prices are a daily snapshot, not a live ticker. The platform fetches prices once a day, around 9:30 AM IST, and shows when.
- Data comes from trusted third-party providers. I can’t guarantee it’s always complete or up to date, and the Disclaimer page explains the limitations.
- Calculators and trackers produce estimates.
- MarketPulse AI is not a SEBI-registered investment adviser, and nothing on the platform is advice.
What’s next, and where I’d love help
Crypto tracking is being finalized under a commercial data license, so it isn’t available to every visitor yet.
The next major step is bringing NIFTY 50 and NASDAQ-100 information onto the platform. Index and equity data isn’t available the way Gold, Silver and currency data is. It needs a paid, licensed data subscription, which makes this the platform’s next real investment, not just a feature.
I’m exploring ways to fund this next step. If you’re interested in supporting MarketPulse AI, I’d welcome funding, partnerships, introductions to market-data providers, or simply sharing the project with the right people. Longer term, I’m also planning an optional subscription for morning email digests and other daily supports.
I am also thinking about a parternship with a smart watch manufacturer or a smart watch software development company, collectively we can personalize a smart watch like a financial newspaper — tracker. Major movements will be shown immediately, as well as advices. IPO openings, GMP, QIB subscription, NII and retail participation, listing prices, discounts, drops, bull run, gold silver movements, crypto movements, news affecting markets, global exposure etc.
Try it and tell me what’s missing
This started as a problem I wanted solved for myself, and it’s still a work in progress. If it helps you spend less of your morning jumping between apps, that’s a win.
