That's a great idea. I've met plenty of new starters being introduced around the office and it's always laughed off with 'there'll be a test on names at the end of the tour!' or 'hope you're noting down everyone's names'
This is not only overwhelming for the new team member but, as you rightly point out, a waste of time.
