Somewhere warm that has great food an amazing view, beaches nearby and fast stable internet.
Higashiyama, Japan
I think the atmosphere would perfectly suit me being a digital nomad and give me great inspiration to work my best.
Probably Australia! I lived in Sydney for a year after college and I miss it all the time, plus it's easy to hop over to New Zealand for more adventure :)
Where I am right now - Oslo, Norway. Maybe with a bit more travel and working while on the road. Would love to spend a summer working from Svalbard, for example.
Probably wouldn't move far at all because of my and my partners family. But I would really appreciate the freedom to visit places, family and friends for as long as I want. Just this year I was able to do just that and it was like a vacation. All obligations stayed at home and after work only quality time was waiting for me.
If I were alone and wanted an adventure it would probably be Strasbourg. Beautiful, not too big and not too small.
Somewhere nice and cold, like Iceland, Norway, Sweden or Finland. Northern parts ofcourse
It really depends of the company that would be working for, because of stuff like pension funds, taxes, salary/rates range.
Example an international company with offices everywhere, because then you just “relocate” and you probably don’t loose company benefits and your salary wouldn’t get reduced 😂.
I am currently living in the Netherlands where for example I have 30% tax benefit and pension scheme (additional to retire fund) + heath insurance. If I moved to Portugal (even if was small town) I would need to do taxes twice in the Netherlands and in Portugal and the salary would be probably 5x less.
Either somewhere similar to where I live now or a neighborhood I used to live in a few years or so ago.
The neighborhood I used to live in was small and it was off of a busy road, but the neighborhood itself was quiet enough and nice to live in.
Where I live now is right near a small city, so at least we have a decent internet connection and everything is in short driving distance (some of it is in walking distance too).
Belize, Panama, Costa Rica
I already enjoy much of the "work anywhere" experience. Places I've worked from, and would happily work from again (no particular order):
Long term, we want to emigrate. If SpaceX would pull their finger out & get StarLink running, I'd buy a van (or better, a bus) and convert to a mobile home, and we'll go where the wind takes us. Handily, my partner is an Art teacher, so can work from anywhere too (if she goes back to being an artist, rather than a teacher).
Somewhere colder, and preferably rural, Norway, Scotland, Denmark... I hate hot weather.
I already made the move, moved from the Netherlands to South-Africa
And no regret so far
The life is way more outside and of-course a mountain and ocean close-by is not a bad thing 🤟
I've already moved over 5 years ago and not looking back. There are so many options in reach (pre/post-covid times) for those times I need to escape the city. For me it's ideal
Right now I live in Venezuela, but my dream is to live in Amsterdam
Kotor, Montenegro
...but maybe in the summer I'll go to Langkawi Island, Malaysia
