How to Animate a Photo with AI: A Simple Image-to-Video Guide

AI image-to-video workflow

Animating a photo with AI is straightforward: upload an image, describe the movement of the person or object, and specify how the camera should behave. A static image can then become a short video clip.

Choose the right photo

Use a sharp image with one clear subject. A face should not be hidden by hair or hands, and the background should not be overloaded with small details. For an old photograph, it can help to improve sharpness and remove heavy damage first.

Write a precise motion prompt

Do not stop at “animate this photo.” Describe one small, natural action: the person smiles slightly and turns their head, leaves move in the wind, or the camera slowly moves closer. Extreme movement is more likely to create distortions.

Example: “The man smiles slightly and looks at the camera, natural blinking, gentle head movement, slow camera push-in, preserve facial features.”

Choose an image-to-video model

Kling, Veo, Wan, and Seedance support image-to-video workflows. They are available through Iishka, where prompts can be written in Russian and models can be selected from one interface.

Keep the source photo and create several short variations. One precise gesture usually looks more convincing than a long scene with many simultaneous actions.
