UX VS. UI: WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

UI and UX design are two of the most frequently misunderstood and conflated terms in web and app design, which is quite understandable. User interface design is known as UI design, whereas User experience design is known as UX design. UX design creates and enhances high-quality user interactions with all company components. In contrast, UI design transfers the power of the brand and its visual assets to a product's interface. UI/UX design is the common term used to group them; on the surface, they describe the same thing but have very different meanings. So, what exactly is the difference? Finding accurate explanations of the two that do not go too far into jargon. But don't worry!

WHAT IS UI DESIGN?
The user interface is referred to as "UI" in UI design. The user interface is the term used to describe the graphical user interface of a software program. It consists of the button users click, the text they read, the images, sliders, text entry fields, and the other elements a user interacts with. This outlines each micro-interaction, screen design, transitions, and interface animation.
UI designers and UI/UX design firms are responsible for this task. They make design decisions regarding the application. They decide on colour schemes, shape, layout, line width, buttons, and text fonts. UI/UX designers design the look and feel of an application's user interface.
Graphic designers also work as UI designers. They prioritise outlook. It is their responsibility to ensure that the interface of the application is appealing, visually stimulating, and appropriately themed to match the function and/or personality of the app. Additionally, they make sure that every single visual component feels cohesive, both aesthetically and conceptually.

WHAT IS UX DESIGN?
"UX" stands for "User experience. The way a user interacts with the app determines their experience with it. Is the experience smooth and easy to use or complicated and confusing? Does it feel understandable or confusing to navigate the app? Is it easier to navigate the app logically or arbitrarily? Does interacting with the app make people feel like they are efficiently completing the tasks they set out to do, or does it make them feel like they are struggling? The ease or difficulty of interacting with the user interface elements that the UI designers have created defines the user experience.
Therefore, UX designers are concerned with the user interface of an application, which is why some people are confused about the distinction between the two. On the other hand, UX designers decide how the user interface will function, also known as the UX strategy, whereas UI designers are responsible for deciding how the user interface will look.
They choose the layout and functionality of the interface. How each component works with the others, and how everything is put together. They essentially design the functionality of the interface. The user will like it if it runs smoothly and has good functionality. However, users will probably have a bad experience if navigation is complex or confusing.
Correspondingly, iterative analysis is a part of the UX design process. UX designers will create wireframe renderings of their interface interactions to get user feedback. This will be integrated into their designs. UX designers must have a thorough understanding of how users prefer to interact with their applications.

HOW THEY COOPERATE
A UI designer evaluates how the user interface will look, while a UX designer determines how it will function. The two design teams frequently collaborate closely during this process, which is very open-ended. The UI team is working on how all these interface elements will appear on screen while the UX team is figuring out the flow of the app, how each button guides you through your tasks, and how the interface effectively provides users with the information they require.
Let's assume that during the design phase, it is decided that additional buttons should be added to a specific screen. This will require rearranging the buttons and possibly modifying their size or shape While the UI teams modified their designs to fit the new layout, the UX team decided how the buttons should be arranged. To ensure that the final user interface looks as good as possible while functioning effectively and intuitively, UI and UX designers work closely together and communicate frequently.

RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS ARE ESSENTIAL
It is essential to conduct research and analysis for UI and UX designers. Both disciplines must adopt a similar approach to gather as much relevant data as possible to help them create appropriate designs.
Both will investigate what users want. What do they expect from the kinds of applications that are being developed? This type of research frequently involves iterative usability sessions where actual users test scaled-down versions of functionality or visual designs to see if the designers are on the right track. With each iteration and feedback is incorporated.
Low-fidelity prototypes are created in this process to gauge how users will respond solely to the functionality being tested, such as wireframe renderings of interface elements. This may also involve quick visual prototypes and A/B tests of various potential interface designs to determine which version users prefer.
The research guides designers' measures as they derive their contributions in every circumstance. However, the data UI and UX designers are seeking is very different.

UI DESIGN RESEARCH
Designers of user interfaces must ensure that the visual language they use is appropriate for the type of application they are creating. The goal is to foresee user expectations. It is essential to understand how other travel apps have been created in the past; if your team is designing a travel app. which ones had success? Which of them failed? There are design lessons to be learned from the work of others.
Some studies claim that people prefer outlined icons to bold shapes. People feel comfortable and enjoy using this type of visual shorthand. The integration of this learning experience would then help UI designers succeed.
Designers can choose whatever aesthetic they want, but they must follow the fundamental "rules," or the requirement to meet user expectations, at all costs. UI designers aim for their interface designs to be distinctive and captivating. However, this must be balanced against ensuring viewers understand the significance of the elements you use on screen.

UX DESIGN RESEARCH
A key component of UX design is focusing on customers' requirements. Every application that users have ever interacted with and used has helped define their requirements for how interfaces should perform. If a UX designer is unfamiliar with these requirements, they may unintentionally create an interface interaction that appears logical but deviates from standard practices. When an interface behaves significantly differently from what they expect, users dislike it because it can make their experience unpleasant. A UX designer must have a very good reason for making a different choice because heading away from a pervasive expectation is likely to lead to frequent misconduct on the part of users.

UX AND UI: TWO VERY DISTINCTIVE FIELDS THAT COEXIST
The main distinction to keep in mind is that while UI design focuses on how the product's interfaces look and work, UX design is all about the overall experience. A UX designer considers every step a user takes to solve a specific problem. What tasks must they carry out? How easy is the experience to navigate? Finding out what issues and pain points users experience and how a particular product might address them is a large part of their work. They will conduct in-depth user research to determine the target users and their needs in relation to a particular product.
UI and UX design success depends on each other, although they require very different skill sets. A brilliant, perfectly appropriate user experience can be destroyed by a poor visual interface design that makes using the app unpleasantly. A beautiful design cannot save an interface that is difficult to use and clunky to navigate. To create a top-notch user interface/experience, both UI and UX designs must be seamlessly executed and ideally in line with existing user expectations. And when those contexts come together, the outcomes can be astounding.
