ADD A DISK, INITIALIZE IT AND MAKE IT USEABLE IN AZURE

Step 1: After you have launched your virtual machine, come back to your Azure portal and click on DISK

Step 2: Scroll down and click on create and attach a new disk

Step 3: A new pop up shows just below it. fill in the details. Your disk name, the storage type you want, and the size of the disk you want to create.

Step 4: Connect back to your virtual machine

Step 5: After your virtual machine is done loading, go to the search bar and search for Disk management and click on Create and format hard disk partition

Step 6: a new tab opens up. scroll down, you will see Disk 2, right click on it and click Simple new volume.

Step 7: Follow the installation process by clicking Next

Step 8: When you get to the Format partition tab, you select how you want your disk to be formatted

Step 9: You click on Finish and you are done

To check if the disk is installed and ready to use, go to This PC on your system, you will see it mounted.

  • Note: You can give you disk a name when you are mounting it. Mine is showing new volume because I skipped that process.
