This is a submission for the Gemma 4 Challenge: Build With Gemma 4
SafeGuard AI is a multilingual disaster preparedness assistant powered by Gemma 4 that provides real-time emergency guidance, weather alerts, and voice interaction during disasters like floods, earthquakes, and cyclones. The project combines AI-powered multilingual communication, live weather monitoring, and location-based alerts to improve emergency preparedness and accessibility. Gemma 4 E4B was selected because it offers lightweight deployment, fast response generation, and practical reasoning suitable for real-time emergency-response systems. The application was built using Python, Streamlit, Whisper, gTTS, and OpenWeather API.
Building Real-World Disaster Preparedness with Gemma 4:

Building SafeGuard AI with Gemma 4 was an exciting experience because it showed how lightweight open models can power practical real-world applications. I used Gemma 4 E4B to create a multilingual disaster preparedness assistant capable of providing real-time emergency guidance, voice interaction, and weather-based alerts. The model’s fast response generation and efficient reasoning made it ideal for emergency-response scenarios where accessibility and low latency are important. This project demonstrates how open-source AI models like Gemma 4 can help developers build impactful and accessible AI systems for real-world problems.
