A lightweight daily plan works best for me when it is a decision document, not a wish list: one outcome that must move, a small number of constraints, and an explicit stop rule. That makes end-of-day review useful instead of just measuring unfinished tasks.
The key for me is making the plan observable by the end of the day. I keep one outcome, one next irreversible action, and a short list of assumptions that could invalidate the plan. At review time I record what actually happened and why the estimate moved; that small history is what gradually makes tomorrow's plan less optimistic.
