You may already have an OC in mind, but for this tutorial, we’ll be working with one of our own: Ravenna.
Known as the Lost Soul Keeper, Ravenna travels between the worlds of the living and the dead, searching for souls that were never able to find peace. Her visual identity centers on black, deep crimson, and silver. She has long silver hair with burgundy highlights, striking crimson eyes, and a Victorian gothic dress decorated with delicate lace. A mysterious black crow follows her on every journey, adding to her dark and supernatural presence.
With her haunting backstory and gothic design, Ravenna would fit naturally as a paranormal and mystery VTuber. Her content could take viewers through strange cases, forgotten stories, and unexplained supernatural events. Now that we have her character and concept, it’s time to give Ravenna her VTuber makeover.
Step 1 — Create Your VTuber’s “Official Debut” Visuals
Once you have your OC ready, you can start creating their VTuber visuals without building each one from zero. PixAI Studio offers templates you can clone for photo sets, merch, gacha screens, animation, and more. Open the VTuber generator, choose the setup you want, and customize it around your character.
Let’s create our OC’s profile visuals:
- Start by locating the “Official Debut - Character ID photos” template. Open the official PixAI Studio workflow article and scroll to Template 1. It includes an 8-panel profile photo set that works well for introducing our OC as a VTuber.
- Once you find the template, tap Clone this template now at the bottom. It should take you to your PixAI Studio workspace.
- Select View process. Then click Clone process in the upper right corner of the template.

Now, let’s bring our own character into the template. To keep Ravenna’s appearance consistent, we’ll use the OC image we already created. If you have an image of your OC ready, remove the four image nodes from the template, then Add an Image Node and upload your character image. Connect it to the 8-panel profile visual set.

If you haven’t created an OC image yet, you can generate one directly from a prompt instead. Replace the four image nodes by adding an Image Node, enter your OC prompt, and click Generate. This will create four image options in the generating Image Node. Choose the one you like best, set it as the main image, and connect it to the 8-panel profile visual set.
You can also customize the 8-panel profile set instead of keeping its default appearance. Adjust the panel background, profile style, and overall visual direction to match your character. Select the 8-panel profile set, edit the relevant parts of the default prompt, and click Generate to create your customized version.
For Ravenna, I wanted the profile set to have a stronger gothic feel, so I replaced a few elements to better reflect her character. The lantern, for example, was swapped for a Skull element to highlight her Lost Soul Keeper identity. I also adjusted the overall design of the 8-panel profile set to fit her style. Adding a lace grid helped reinforce her Victorian gothic look, while the deep black and crimson background completed the darker atmosphere.
Creating a VTuber concept doesn’t mean you have to completely redesign your OC. Templates can give you a starting point for combining descriptions and making visual changes while keeping the character recognizable. This way, you can give your OC a fresh style without losing the visual elements that connect everything together.
Step 2 — Design a Starting Soon Screen with “Good Morning, 8,000 Viewers”
With our official profile visuals ready, we can move on to the next part of the VTuber setup: a Starting Soon screen. And just like the 8-panel profile set, there’s already a template we can use instead of building everything from scratch.
- Find the Good Morning, 8,000 Viewers template in the official PixAI Studio workflow. Scroll down to the Video Templates section and look for Template 9.
- Scroll to the bottom and click Clone this template now. This will open the template in your PixAI Studio workspace.
- Click View process, then select Clone process in the upper-right corner.

Let’s bring our character into the Starting Soon Template. Our goal is to carry over the same character design and visual direction from the 8-panel profile set so the two visuals feel like they belong to the same VTuber identity.
The connected nodes may look complicated at first, but we only need to focus on what we’re creating. For now, our goal is simply to build the Starting Soon screen. To keep the character consistent, we’ll use the Profile Visuals Set as our reference image.
From the toolbar, click Add Node and choose Image Node. Select Upload an image and add your Profile Visual images. After uploading, drag the (+) sign from the Image Node and connect it to the Starting Soon Image Nodes in the template.

Select the four Image Starting Soon Nodes in the template to view their default prompts. Instead of creating a new prompt from zero, we can use these descriptions as our foundation and adjust them around Ravenna’s character. For this setup, we’ll focus on details that bring out her gothic and paranormal VTuber identity.
Here’s how we can adjust the prompt:
Click Generate to create four variations. Look through the results, choose the one that best fits Ravenna, and set it as the main image.
The workflow also makes it easy to keep refining the result. If you want to change an element, remove something, or add a custom detail, simply move to the next node and adjust its prompt.

Having an official OC image to work from gives the generation a clear visual foundation. It helps preserve Ravenna’s recognizable features while allowing the VTuber maker to create visuals that match her personality and established style.

Bring Your VTuber Starter Kit Together
Now that both visuals are ready, let’s take a look at the Profile Visuals and Starting Soon Screen side-by-side.
Using the official OC image as our reference made it easier to keep Ravenna’s appearance consistent across both workflows. Instead of starting each design from scratch or repeatedly changing the prompt, we could work with the template and focus on adding or removing descriptions that better matched our character design.
When I first introduced Ravenna, her original design already had a gothic feel. However, after generating the profile visuals, I noticed that the lantern and the combination of crimson and white made her look more like a vampire than the gothic character I originally imagined. These differences can be difficult to notice until you actually see the generated result. Having four Image Node options makes it easier to experiment with different visual directions and choose the result that works best as the main image.
Using the Profile Visuals as the reference for the Starting Soon Screen also helped carry over the elements we had already customized. Although the two designs have different layouts and purposes, they still feel connected because they share the same character details and visual direction.
Between the two, I personally prefer the Starting Soon Screen. The Profile Visuals did a great job making Ravenna feel more gothic, but I liked the graphics and overall composition of the Starting Soon Screen more. It also made Ravenna feel more like an actual VTuber who is ready to appear on screen for her first stream.

You don’t have to end your VTuber setup with just the profile visuals and Starting Soon Screen. There’s plenty more you can create in your workspace, from a complete stream kit to a collection of custom assets that fit your character.
