In this tutorial, we’ll use PixAI Studio to create profile visuals, an anime album cover of release promo, and a simple debut merch piece. Together, these elements can become a complete starter kit for your character’s big debut.
Build Your Album Concept Around One Character
Have an OC of your own? You can use them throughout this tutorial, but for now, let’s meet the character we’ll be creating with.
This is Miyu, an anime vocalist idol with a soft pastel aesthetic. Her rainbow-toned hair adds a colorful touch to her design, while the star stickers make her look playful and a little magical. I want her debut to have a dreamy pop-idol feel, so we’ll build the album visuals around that idea. Her character already has the right personality and colors for us to turn that concept into a full debut look.
Step 1 — Build Your Character’s Profile with “Official Debut”
A photocard can be the first piece of a pop artist’s visual identity. For Miyu, we’ll use one to introduce her as an idol while keeping the character details that make her recognizable. Rather than designing the photocard from the ground up, we can build from an existing PixAI Studio template.
Follow these steps:
- Find the Official Debut — Character ID Photos in the official PixAI Studio workflow templates. Under Image Templates, scroll down to Template
- At the bottom of the template, click Clone this template now to open it in PixAI Studio.
- Once the template appears, select View process.
- In the upper-right corner, click Clone workspace. The template workflow will then appear on your canvas:
Now that the template is ready, we can bring our own character into the workflow. There are two ways to do this, depending on whether you already have an OC image.
If you have an existing OC image, add an Image Node and upload your character. Connect the image to the 8-panel profile visuals first, then move on to adjusting the prompt.
Don’t have an OC image yet? No problem. Enter your character description into the prompt box of the 4 Image Node template and click Generate. You’ll get four character variations that you can choose from.
For this tutorial, we already have Miyu’s image, so we’ll replace the four default Image Nodes with her instead. The workspace should now look like this:
The template gives us a starting point, but we can still reshape the photo ID visuals to fit our character. Change the background, color palette, and other design elements to create a look that feels more personal.
For Miyu, I wanted the profile visuals to reflect her soft and dreamy idol style. I added pastel colors, sparkles, and small stars and charms to bring out the playful details of her design. Click the 8-panel visual profile and edit the prompt in the prompt box based on the look you want to create.
I removed some of the default descriptions and replaced them with details that better represent Miyu’s personality. The original blue background became a mix of soft pastel shades, helping establish a color palette that feels more connected to her character.
I also swapped the headphones for a sparkly microphone and added a star grid to make the profile feel more like a dreamy pop idol concept. You can even adjust your character’s pose and camera angle to change how the final visuals are presented. With the profile established, we can now move on to creating the album cover.
Step 2 — Design an Anime Album Cover with “Unplayed Melody”
A dreamy pop idol needs an album cover to complete her debut look. This time, we’ll take it a step further by creating both an album cover and a promotional release visual with our AI album cover generator.
Here’s how to set up the template:
- Open the official PixAI Studio workflow article templates and find the Unplayed Melody — Album Release Poster. You’ll find it under the Image templates, Merch & Goods Series, Template 7.
- Scroll to the bottom of the template section and click Clone this template now to open the workflow in PixAI Studio.
- Click View process, then select Clone workspace in the upper-right corner.
- The cloned template should now appear on your canvas like this:
Let’s bring our OC into the album workflow by replacing the default character. The template already combines the album and promotional elements into one layout, but we can separate them to create different assets, such as:
- An album cover poster
- CD release mockup
- Promotional visuals
- Bonus style visuals
To begin, delete the four existing image nodes. Then Add an Image Node, select Upload image, and add your OC image.
Because we’re creating the Album Cover separately from the promotional visuals, we’ll work with two Image Nodes. For the first one, we’ll use the default Album Cover template node. Click the node to reveal its prompt below.
There’s no need to write an entirely new prompt. We can keep the template as our foundation and replace the character descriptions with details that match our OC.
For Miyu, I mainly adjusted the color palette and pose while removing the promotional elements, including the CD, photocards, and merch. I also used PixAI Edit Pro with a 3:4 aspect ratio to create a suitable album cover format. Having the OC image and template prompt as our starting point makes it much easier to explore different directions by changing specific details instead of rebuilding everything.
Generate your result and continue adjusting the prompt until you find a version that fits your OC.

Next, we’ll create the main promotional release poster. This time, we want to bring the CD and merch back into the composition as part of Miyu’s official album release.
For this, we’ll need a second Image Node. Click Add Node, choose Image, then connect the Album Cover node to it by dragging the (+) sign onto the new Image Node. I used PixAI Reference Pro to preserve the character details and visual direction established in the anime character album cover. This helps both visuals feel like part of the same release.
For the new Image Node, we’ll need a separate prompt. An easy way to build it is to reuse the promotional descriptions we removed from the original Album Cover prompt. Paste those details into the new prompt, then refine the wording and adjust any elements you want before generating.
I changed Miyu’s pose and camera angle so the release poster would have more variety instead of looking too similar to the album cover. I also placed the CD and merch descriptions across the lower half of the poster to create a more balanced composition. You can personalize the design further by adding an album title, changing the mood, adjusting the color palette, or exploring a different genre or concept.
Step 3 — Complete the Debut with “Come Closer” Merch
Let’s complete our OC’s debut visual package with a simple sticker sheet. We can use the visual direction we created earlier, including the profile visuals, album cover, and promotional assets, as the foundation for this final merch piece.
Follow these steps:
- Go to the official PixAI Studio workspace templates and scroll down to Come Closer — Die-Cut Sticker Sheet. It should be under the Image Templates, Merch and Goods Series.
- Click Clone this template now. This will open the official template workspace.
- Click View process, then in the upper right corner, click Clone workspace.
- Your canvas should now display the cloned workflow:
Next, we’ll bring our OC into the sticker workflow. Since this sticker sheet is part of the same debut merch collection, using our Album Cover as the reference will help keep the visuals consistent. Delete the default four Image Nodes, then Add Node and choose Upload image to upload the Album Cover we created earlier. Click the (+) sign and connect it to the sticker sheet template.
Now we can customize the sticker design. Click the default sticker sheet to reveal its prompt. You can replace the prompt entirely if you want a different direction, but for this tutorial, a few adjustments are enough. I used PixAI Edit Pro so the details added to the prompt could be reflected more accurately in the generated image.
I mainly updated the sticker descriptions, adding elements such as stars, a sparkly microphone, and a soft pastel background. Since some of these details were already picked up from our Album Cover reference, only a few changes were needed to achieve the look we wanted.
My favorite is the sticker featuring our OC with the text and microphone. It adds a playful touch while making the whole debut concept feel even more dreamy and pop-inspired.
Assemble Your Anime Debut Kit
It’s great to see how we created four different visual directions while keeping our OC’s original design recognizable and consistent throughout the process.
The main elements that tie everything together are the color palette and recurring graphics. The soft pastel shades, stars, microphones, and sparkly details all work together to give our OC the dreamy pop-idol identity we wanted for her first album release.
Among all the visuals, the album cover and promotional release poster stand out the most to me. The addition of the CD and merch, along with the different singing poses we explored, helped complete the idea of an idol launching her first album. Together, these details turned the individual visuals into a cohesive debut kit, which is also why these are my favorite results from the tutorial.
