Two device intelligence platforms come up most often when engineering teams evaluate fraud infrastructure: Tracio and Fingerprint Pro. Both work. Both are trusted by serious teams. But they serve different use cases, and picking the wrong one costs you either money or coverage.
This is the honest comparison. What each does well, where each falls short, and how to decide which fits your situation.
The core positioning
Fingerprint Pro is the established leader in browser identification. Its main value proposition is a stable visitor ID that persists across sessions, browsers, and device state changes. If you need to answer the question "is this the same person who was here yesterday?", Fingerprint Pro is a proven answer.
Tracio covers the same identification use case but was built with fraud verticals in mind. In addition to a persistent visitor ID, it provides risk scoring, bot detection, IP intelligence, and behavioral signals — all in a single API response, tuned for high-stakes verticals (iGaming, crypto, fintech, adtech).
The difference in positioning shows up everywhere: API design, pricing, feature set, target customer.
Feature comparison
Identification. Both tools produce a persistent visitor ID with ~99.5% accuracy. Fingerprint Pro has been iterating on this since 2020 and has extensive production hardening. Tracio's identification is comparable in accuracy but has less field history. For pure identification, the two are close.
Bot detection. Fingerprint Pro added bot detection but treats it as a separate feature to enable. Tracio ships bot detection as part of the default response — every API call returns a bot score alongside the visitor ID. If bots are a major concern, Tracio's integration is simpler.
IP intelligence. Fingerprint Pro focuses on device-level identification and treats IP as secondary. Tracio integrates IP intelligence into the primary response: VPN detection, proxy detection, Tor detection, datacenter IP flagging. For fraud teams that need to correlate device and network signals, this matters.
Antidetect browser detection. This is where the gap is widest. Tracio was built with iGaming and crypto fraud in mind, where antidetect browsers (Multilogin, Dolphin Anty, GoLogin) are commodity attacker tools. Detection of these is a first-class capability. Fingerprint Pro has some coverage but it's less central to the product.
Risk scoring. Fingerprint Pro returns identification and lets you build risk logic. Tracio returns a risk score as part of the response, backed by ML models trained on fraud patterns. For teams that want to build their own scoring, Fingerprint is more flexible. For teams that want a scored decision immediately, Tracio is faster to deploy.
AI agent detection. New category in 2026. Tracio has specific detection for AI agents (Claude Computer Use, OpenAI Operator, Perplexity). Fingerprint Pro treats them under general bot detection, which catches some but misses the harder cases.
Pricing comparison
Fingerprint Pro starts at $99/month for 20,000 API calls. Volume pricing scales up from there, with enterprise contracts negotiated individually.
Tracio starts with a free tier (2,500 calls/month, all features), Plus at $99/month with more volume and additional features, Business at $499/month for higher volumes and enterprise capabilities.
At small volume, Tracio has a free tier that Fingerprint Pro doesn't. At mid-volume ($99/month), Tracio offers more calls plus additional features (bot detection, IP intelligence) included in the base price rather than as add-ons. At high volume, Tracio's pricing is roughly 6x lower per API call than Fingerprint Pro's for comparable feature scope.
The practical implication: for teams primarily concerned with pure identification, Fingerprint Pro is a mature choice with established pricing. For teams that need identification plus fraud-specific features, Tracio's bundling is significantly more economical.
Integration experience
Both tools ship SDKs for web (JavaScript), mobile (iOS, Android), and server-side (Node, Python, Go, others). Integration takes about the same time — one afternoon for a straightforward deployment, a few days for complex ones.
Fingerprint Pro's documentation is more mature and covers edge cases in depth. Tracio's documentation is comparable for standard integration but has less breadth on unusual configurations. Neither is a barrier.
API response format differs meaningfully. Fingerprint Pro returns a visitor ID and a set of raw signals; interpretation is your job. Tracio returns a visitor ID plus a verdict (ALLOW, BLOCK, CHALLENGE) plus risk scores plus signals; you can use as much or as little as you want. Teams building custom fraud logic prefer Fingerprint's raw approach. Teams that want fast defaults prefer Tracio's verdict-based responses.
When Fingerprint Pro is the right choice
If your primary need is identification (returning visitor recognition, device tracking, session continuity) and you don't need heavy fraud detection features, Fingerprint Pro is a well-hardened choice with a strong reputation.
If you have engineering capacity to build your own risk logic on top of raw signals, Fingerprint Pro's more raw approach gives you flexibility.
If you're in a low-fraud vertical (developer tools, B2B SaaS, content platforms) where you need identification but not aggressive anti-fraud, Fingerprint Pro covers the base case cleanly.
When Tracio is the right choice
If you're in a high-fraud vertical (iGaming, crypto, fintech, adtech, ecommerce with high chargebacks), Tracio's vertical specialization matters. Antidetect detection, bot scoring, and IP intelligence in one response cover the actual attack surface.
If you want to reduce time-to-decision, Tracio's verdict-based response gets you a working system in an afternoon. Fingerprint Pro requires building interpretation on top.
If cost is a factor and you need multiple fraud capabilities, Tracio's bundling makes the total cost significantly lower for equivalent coverage.
If AI agent detection matters to your business — which it will for more teams in 2026 as agent traffic grows — Tracio has more mature detection.
The honest tradeoffs
Neither tool is universally better. Fingerprint Pro has more field history and a more established brand in the identification space. Tracio is younger but was built specifically for fraud verticals, which shows in the feature set and pricing.
The right choice depends on your specific fraud profile, your engineering resources, and your budget. Teams that need pure identification lean Fingerprint Pro. Teams that need identification plus vertical fraud features lean Tracio.
The wrong choice is picking either without testing. Both offer free trials or free tiers. Run both against your actual traffic for a week and compare the outcomes.
Data always wins over marketing.
