WordPress Fixes

Copy-paste fixes for the WordPress problems that stop you mid-project. Written for developers who need the solution now โ€” not a 3,000-word "what is WordPress" intro.

Why these pages exist: Big WordPress sites give you 2,000 words and 40 screenshots before the answer. We give you the 30-second fix first, then the root cause, then how to prevent it. Same pattern as every other fix page on makuistudio.com.

๐Ÿšจ Fix Pages

Something broke. Here's how to make it work again.

[Site broke after installing a plugin

Fix: WordPress Plugin Conflict

[Custom CSS isn't showing up

Fix: Theme CSS Not Applying

You edited the CSS, saved, refreshed, and nothing changed. It's almost always caching, specificity, or the wrong file.

[Child theme changes ignored

Fix: Child Theme Not Overriding

You built a proper child theme and the parent is still winning. Usually one of five specific causes โ€” all listed inside.

[Site got slow after adding plugins

Fix: Plugin Slowing Down Site

Every plugin runs on every page load. Find the ones actually costing you seconds โ€” not the ones that look heavy.

๐Ÿ“– How to use these pages

1

Match the symptom, not the cause

You don't need to know what's wrong. Find the page that matches what you're seeing โ€” "site broke," "CSS not applying," "slow site."

2

Read the 30-second fix

Every fix page opens with the fastest safe answer. Copy it, apply it, verify.

3

Follow up with the how-to guide

Each fix links to the deeper workflow. If the fix worked, the how-to prevents it recurring.

4

Request a fix

Stuck on something not listed? Contact us with the exact symptom. WordPress fixes are added weekly.

โ“ Frequently asked questions

Are these fixes safe to run on a live site?

Every fix lists the risk level. The "deactivate plugins" approach is always safe. Fixes that touch the database are marked and include a backup step first. If a fix would take down a live site, we say so upfront.

Do these work with WordPress multisite?

Most do. Fixes that differ on multisite are marked with a "Multisite" note. Network-activated plugins work differently from site-activated plugins โ€” the fix pages call this out.

What about classic themes vs block themes?

Where the fix differs, we cover both. Theme CSS issues are common to both; child theme fixes have block-theme-specific notes when they matter. Block themes don't use style.css the same way, and the fix pages explain this.

Do you cover page builders like Elementor, Divi, Bricks?

Only when the fix is builder-agnostic. Page-builder-specific issues are their own ecosystem and there are already good resources for those. We focus on the WordPress core problems underneath.

Why not just use WP-CLI for everything?

WP-CLI is great when you have it. But most developers don't have shell access on shared hosting. Every fix page includes both the WP-CLI command (when applicable) and the file-manager/admin alternative.

Is this a replacement for WordPress support?

No. For plugin-specific bugs, the plugin author's support forum is still the right place. These pages help you identify which plugin is at fault and how to work around it while waiting for the developer.
