Before reading this, understand that I am fully aware of how competitive the space can be. A lot of people are truly passionate about tech so I can understand the need for some of the processes that exist.
I'm simply creating this post to see what others think.
Over the years, I've seen quite a few jobs that require repo links to projects that you've built outside of working hours. In my eyes, that is quite an interesting requirement since no other job, at least not that I am aware of, require this of their potential employees.
For example, no one will ask an accountant to show them books that they've audited in their free time.
That does make me think - and maybe some of you can answer this - what was it like back in the day i.e before you could just pull up repos of someone else's work?
The way I currently see it, setting up detailed job requirements and scopes should be enough to thin out the number of applicants.
I guess this is where the passion for development comes in for some companies. I would love to hear what everyone else thinks about free time repos as a requirement for a job.
