In the luxury manufacturing space, most companies start with a piece of wood and try to figure out how to sell it. KovaKelo started in the exact opposite direction. But digital vectors don't pay bills, and pretty AI images can't sit in a physical hotel lobby. This is the story of the reality check. This is how we took a massive digital anomaly and forced it into brutal, heavy industrial reality—building our own thermal chambers and heavy-duty sawmills when the traditional market told us it was impossible.
KovaKelo: From 80,000 AI Renders to Physical Reality
Building KovaKelo was strange. I remember at one point, passing by thermally modifying machines on-site was just normal. And I was surprised by the human brain. While others don't even know how to file paperwork, or that ISPM-15 certification is even needed—you can't even send your work overseas without it—we were already beyond that.
Back then, when Midjourney was just a few days old, I'm not sure how, but I started playing with it. I think I lived in Sofia back then, and it was like my second childhood. I started to make renders. Hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of designs, almost the same. It was funny—at 80,000 images, yes you heard it right, basically they were all the same.
Machine Learning the Human Brain
I started showing my friends. And they said, "Ah, looks gorgeous, but they are all the same." I was rendering the same things over and over again to see how glass connects to river tables, or how a 4 cm thick piece relates better to a thicker one. How it could actually be manufactured. I wasn't sure yet, but I was in the 60,000 to 80,000 range of almost the exact same images. Watching them over and over again.
I think it triggered something like machine learning in my own brain. Many have a great idea, execute on it, and get a result, or they want to reinvent the wheel with every picture. No, we kept making tiny modifications and getting lost in the details. It's strange to say, but I think it gave me the advantages that centuries of a lifetime can. I think our fellow artificial intelligence friends might explain it better than me if asked. Probably it was deep pattern recognition and forcing the brain to imagine the physical details. I was constantly thinking in manufacturing phases and costs.
The 1.5 Million View Architecture (Orchestrating APIs)
Months passed. I moved back. And at one point, I have no idea why, the idea just came to put it on Pinterest. Oh, it was a strange one. I needed to cross-orchestrate WordPress, AI APIs, and some database programs that took Excel charts and made WP pages from them. Then taking the pages and finding a free—or a one-time payment of maybe 20 dollars—plugin-like solution that posted it automatically on a daily basis. It worked like a charm.
So in maybe two months, we got 1.5 million monthly views on the furniture. The most visited cities were Los Angeles, Washington, New York, and the Silicon Valley areas. And it was ultimate luxury, and surely we didn't post all 80k, just the good ones. So quite a few. 1.5 million views from the most expensive places on the planet within the luxury tables niche. Great, but how do I pay my bills? Pretty images won't pay them.
The Reality Check: From Silicon to Carbon
That was the turning point. I contacted one of the most prestigious magazines in Hungary and said, "Look what I got." Nobody was even touching those numbers. And trust me, everyone used AI, it wasn't like I was the only early one. But for the first time in my life, somehow, it hit. The owner of the luxury magazine said, "Ok, I'm fully in, but you need to actually start manufacturing them."
Damn. Reality check. After an hour on a Teams call, I realized: Damnit, he is right. It took a while. So the first step was building the huge industrial machine that could hydroscopically stabilize wood. Let's say that was a pretty big damn thing because we nailed it the first time and it was industrial size. Stable as a piece of stone. Funny, others charged 300kto400k for similar machines. And you would say, "Great, you hit the jackpot, total happiness. DuckTales success story."
No. Hahaha.
There is a tiny issue here, hahaha. The wood is, let's say, 3 to 6 tons, and you need to cut it. You need an industrial-scale sawmill with hydraulics that can rotate and lift 3 to 6 tons. Now I understood that the digital side took almost no effort on my behalf. On Pinterest, I was just a god, hahaha. Pinterest was the first platform that somehow I got intuitively. I understood it and somehow it was predictable. I knew what would happen, how the algorithm breathes and moves. It was the first AI system I truly mastered.
But dragging those digital vectors into heavy industrial physics? That was the real challenge that birthed KovaKelo.
