Hi I am Kubilay. I’m using Mac for 5 years and today I wanted to list the Mac applications that I've used almost every day for about five years and found useful, along with their alternatives. As time goes on and I discover new applications, this list will update itself.
-
Maccy
- This application is a clipboard history that I use constantly. Unfortunately, this feature, which comes automatically on Windows computers, is provided on Mac computers through an application. We can use this feature with the Maccy application and customize the application. If you do not want it to save the copying operations you have made in a particular application, the "exclude" option is available.

-
Monitor Control
- If you are using an external monitor and want to control its brightness, you can do this with the Monitor Control application.

-
App Cleaner
- I use the AppCleaner application to try out a lot of applications on Mac and uninstall applications that I don't like or no longer need. I make sure that all the related files are deleted with the application.

-
Daisy Disk
- If you are experiencing storage problems on your Mac computer or want to examine or clean the files on your disk in detail, I can recommend using the Daisy Disk application.

Magnet
- Using Mac applications in different sizes on the screen has become possible with new macOS versions, but since I have gotten used to the Magnet application for a long time, I use the Magnet application to manage windows quickly. Although this application is a paid application, free versions are also available. The Rectangle application is a free version of the Magnet application.

Fresh Eyes
- We spend long hours in front of the monitor and often miss the 20-20-20 rule. I use Fresh Eyes to relax my eyes a little and refocus my attention, to rest my eyes for 20 seconds at 20-minute intervals, and to protect my eye health.

Keyboard Clean Tool
- Since I use many keyboard shortcuts on Mac, it is a program that locks my keyboard keys when I want to clean my computer keyboard.

-
Amphetamine
- I use the Amphetamine application to prevent my Mac computer from going into sleep mode when the lid is closed when I use it with the screen closed. You can customize it as you like and adjust when your computer will go to sleep mode.

OrbStack
- This application may remain a bit technical, but it is a Docker client application that I can recommend instead of Docker Desktop on your computer.

-
Colima
- I learned about this terminal application from a friend who is currently working as a DevOps Team Lead, and I still use it. You can do all your work with Colima without having to install Docker Desktop or OrbStack.
