The beginning v1
I created my first portfolio website in 2015 and it was active up until this point. Man, 11 years ago!? Time flies. Even Claude was "Please upgrade this quickly."
So that was a period where we had that PSD TO HTML kind of developers, so naturally I wanted to be one. I wanted to slice images, export assets, organize files, use pixel perfect tools so I don't need to report bugs to myself.
I sat down, created visuals in photoshop and in several next days I acted like a senior product designer except the product was me. (:
Finally, when everything was ready for butcher shop, I created an empty folder and start building; section by section, feature by feature, animation by animation.
I almost forgot: that was the time where we had that jade (for html) and sass (for css) preprocessors as idea of components, so I can write a little bit less code that is reusable. I'm just waiting python guys to cherish this moment. They will know why.
I even had an ajax call to fetch the product details. Yes, details were small html segments which I loaded through jquery.ajax thingy.
But Claude, as I mentioned before, did pretty ballsy claim that my personal website is outdated. I AM gonna leave a screenshot for you guys to decide.
Anyways, that statement hurt my feelings so I decided to hire him/her because I'm only human and he, or however they identify as, is not.
The beginning v2
So, one sleepless night, I gave it a purpose. I gave it a reason to run. To eat all the tokens it can. I fed that beast. I tried to set it to the right direction. I wanted to lead it. It followed. Slowly. Stumbling on its own feet making those footsteps heavy. I pulled it countless times from the ground, setting it straight so it can run again.
I woke up 4th day, and I saw something on the screen. Something I like. Something I can use as the next chapter in my life.
It's funny, but I could not care less about technology, I surely didn't care about tests or styling implementation. I just wanted to see that picture in my head could be painted on the screen in front of me. And it was.
Conclusion
Before this blog transforms into roman where it guy is fighting robots, I would like to draw a line. I just don't know which one. Horizontal or verti... Yea, let's go with the vertical one.
Before AI, humans talked to the machines via programming languages. Every idea that popped in someone's head, it needed to be coded. I wrote about this before, but I see a programming language as a tool for communicating with the machines.
Now, with the expansion of AI, that line was drawn a little bit further. Now we have proxy, the messenger which carries our letters from far, creating seamless transition of information. From your head, all the way to the zeros and ones.
AI enabled us to build something faster, but that comes with setbacks which we are gonna cover in next several posts.
