How to Configure an LED Display with NovaLCT: 4 Key Steps

NovaLCT is a configuration tool used to set up and manage LED displays with compatible NovaStar control systems. If your screen shows incorrect images, displays content on the wrong cabinets, or fails to show the full desktop, checking the configuration is a good place to start.

Here are four key steps to understand before configuring an LED screen.

1. Check your computer's display settings

Set the output resolution to match your intended LED display configuration. For initial testing, duplicate mode can help you confirm that the screen is receiving the computer's output.

Avoid unnecessary display scaling, which may affect image mapping.

2. Configure the sending card

In NovaLCT, check that the selected video source, output resolution, and refresh rate match your computer's output settings.

Incorrect settings may cause stretched images or unexpected display behavior.

3. Load the receiving card configuration

If your LED screen supplier provides an RCFG configuration file, load the correct file rather than changing unfamiliar parameters manually.

If the original file is unavailable, NovaLCT's Read Back function may help recover the existing parameters from a working receiving card.

Always save a backup before making changes.

4. Set up and verify the screen connection

Enter the correct number of rows and columns based on your physical cabinet layout. Then configure the connection sequence and send the settings to the hardware.

Two useful tools are:

Enable Mapping: Helps identify the position and connection order of cabinets.

Detect Communication Status: Helps identify communication problems with receiving cards.

If some cabinets show incorrect content, check the cabinet layout and Ethernet connections first.

Final checklist

Before finishing, confirm that:

The output resolution matches the intended screen configuration.

The correct receiving card parameters are loaded.

Cabinet rows, columns, and connection order are correct.

Communication status is normal.

The final settings have been saved.

Note: Menu names and available functions may vary by NovaLCT version and connected hardware. Always follow the instructions for your specific control system.
