Written from the product perspective of LionCoders, the team behind PeoplePro.
An employee joins a company. HR creates the employee record, a manager assigns work, and payroll needs the correct salary information. Meanwhile, a service team may be tracking the customer project that employee will help deliver.
As an organization grows, these handoffs deserve as much attention as the individual screens used to manage them. A useful software evaluation asks whether people can follow the work across departments and understand who owns the next step.
Meet PeoplePro
PeoplePro is LionCoders' self-hosted Laravel business application covering HR management, payroll, projects, and customer relationship management. It brings employee administration and business workflows into a shared workspace.

Give employee records a clear organizational home
PeoplePro supports employee profiles, companies, locations, departments, and designations. Attendance, shifts, leave, and performance workflows sit alongside those records. Roles and permissions help administrators define what different users can access.
For a growing team, start by mapping a real reporting structure. Identify who maintains employee information, who reviews requests, and which records each role needs. This gives the implementation team a concrete basis for configuration and training.
Follow the journey from working time to payroll review
The current PeoplePro release supports overnight attendance, missed-punch correction requests, salary components, allowances, deductions, payroll drafts, payments, and payslips. Independent payroll approval is available where configured.
Use a fictional employee to evaluate an ordinary working week and an exception, such as a shift crossing midnight. Write down the expected records and the review steps. Then ask the people responsible for attendance and payroll to walk through the scenario together.
The goal of this exercise is a process the team can explain, including how an exception is reviewed and how the final record is checked.
Bring project delivery and customer work into the conversation
PeoplePro's project workflows include tasks, milestones, actual-time tracking, and reviewed billable work. Its current standalone release also includes CRM capabilities for companies, contacts, leads, deal pipelines, quotations, invoices, and customer follow-up.
For a service business, evaluate a complete sample journey. Start with an enquiry, outline the customer requirement, and define the work that needs delivery. Identify the owner of each handoff and the information that person needs.
This becomes a practical checklist for deciding which parts of the workflow to configure first and where additional integration or customization may help.
Treat implementation as an engineering project
A self-hosted deployment needs clear operational ownership. Decide who will maintain the environment, verify backups, review access, and test updates before applying them to live business data.
For developers and implementation teams, three small artifacts can make the work easier to review.
- A role matrix showing who may view, create, change, and approve each relevant record.
- A set of fictional business scenarios with expected outcomes and the exceptions to test.
- An integration brief describing the external system, the required data, and how a failed exchange should be handled.
Start with the workflows that matter most to the organization. Let a small group of actual users evaluate them, record their feedback, and use that feedback to plan the next stage.
Explore PeoplePro with your own workflow in mind
Choose a few everyday tasks before opening the demo. An employee request, a payroll review, a project update, or a customer follow-up gives the team something specific to assess.
