Architecting Autonomous SRE: How BlastRadiusAI Leverages FalkorDB for Sub-Millisecond Cloud Incident Remediation
When a cloud security incident triggers at 2:00 AM, traditional monitoring and observability tooling frequently falls short. The core limitation stems from data silos: critical security telemetry does not reside in isolated log streams; rather, it is embedded within the dynamic, multi-hop topology connecting microservices, IAM privilege boundaries, and infrastructure assets.
For the Graph Hacks hackathon, we engineered BlastRadiusAI—an autonomous SRE and cloud security orchestration platform built natively on FalkorDB. Designed to transition incident response from reactive triage to deterministic, sub-millisecond mathematical resolution, BlastRadiusAI redefines how agents interact with connected enterprise data.

The Architectural Limit of Flat RAG and Relational Joins
During a zero-day intrusion or lateral movement scenario, conventional vector-based Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and relational SQL joins are inherently bounded by a Depth 1 perspective. While they surface immediate neighbors or syntactic keyword matches, they systematically fail to capture complex transitive privilege escalations traversing ingress gateways, third-party microservices, and buried Crown Jewel data stores.
For an autonomous agent to perform reliable root-cause analysis and remediation, its contextual state must reside within a native graph structure where structural topology directly informs agentic execution flow.
Core Architecture & FalkorDB Integration
BlastRadiusAI relies on an asynchronous backend architecture (FastAPI, WebSockets) paired with a deterministic multi-agent DAG execution pipeline. The underlying tenant graph topology—hosted securely on FalkorDB Cloud—models complex enterprise environments via a rigorous schema:
-
(:IngressALB)and(:Service)nodes representing network entry points and containerized workloads. -
(:IAMRole)nodes interconnected via:ASSUMES_ROLEand:CAN_ASSUMEdirected privilege edges. -
(:CrownJewel)security boundaries safeguarding critical assets (rds-customer-pii,s3-customer-vault-prod). -
(:Finding)episodic memory nodes persisting historical remediation insights across operational sessions.
1. High-Performance Transitive Traversals (*1..4)
Rather than executing brittle, multi-table SQL lookups, our query engine leverages variable-depth transitive traversals (*1..4). This exposes complete attack blast radii instantaneously, returning verifiable nodes(path) execution traces that ensure complete auditability for engineering teams.
2. Native GraphBLAS Algorithmic Analytics
To evaluate cluster health and vulnerability paths without performance degradation, we tap directly into FalkorDB's native GraphBLAS execution engine:
- Executing
CALL algo.SPpathsfor rapid, real-time shortest attack path calculations during threat simulation. - Invoking
CALL algo.pageRank('Service', 'DEPENDS_ON')to identify critical, load-bearing service choke points across complex distributed topologies.
3. Counterfactual Ephemeral Multigraph Sandboxing (db.select_graph)
One of the platform's foundational innovations is counterfactual multigraph sandboxing. When remediation is requested, the system isolates production state by cloning the live topology into an ephemeral multigraph sandbox via db.select_graph("ops:sandbox_ephemeral").
This enables simultaneous evaluation of competing remediation strategies within a structured Counterfactual Matrix—mathematically proving, for example, that terminating a core server pod introduces a 38% collateral outage, whereas surgically pruning a single IAM permission edge neutralizes the threat with 0.00% downtime.
LLM Governance & The Parameterized MCP Catalogue
To mitigate non-deterministic LLM behavior and eliminate arbitrary database mutation risks, the agent is strictly prohibited from generating raw, unvalidated Cypher queries. Instead, system interaction is mediated through a strict Model Context Protocol (MCP) catalogue consisting of 6 read-only tools governed by a two-stage validation pipeline:
-
Pre-Execution Resolution: Validates entity existence via
resolve_service()prior to execution, immediately short-circuiting unmodeled or invalid queries (e.g.,legacy-billing-v1) with zero database overhead. -
Post-Execution Guardrails: Enforces structural schema adherence using regex-backed
accepts()validation hooks.
High-impact operational changes are intercepted by a mandatory Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) authorization gate prior to automated Terraform patch synthesis, canary validation execution, and automated Git root-cause correlation (linked to PR #1042).
Production Reliability & Automated Verification
To guarantee production-grade stability, the platform undergoes rigorous regression validation via a dedicated verification test suite (scratch/verify_pipeline.py) executing 30 automated checks across MITRE ATT&CK threat mappings, network isolation paths, and governance boundaries.
Key Takeaways & Future Horizons
Building BlastRadiusAI validated a core thesis: autonomous agents require graph-native backbones to reason safely about complex systems.
By harnessing FalkorDB Cloud's sub-millisecond traversals, native GraphBLAS analytics, and ephemeral multigraph isolation (db.select_graph), we turned a chaotic, multi-day security review into a deterministic 3-second mathematical solution.
As we look toward production deployments, graph-native infrastructure stands out as the ultimate bedrock for AI systems—shifting agentic workflows from probabilistic guessing to verifiable, safe execution.
