AI video proof beats (build your shot list around these)

Most AI video shot lists are just pretty moments in a row. Hook. Product beauty. Soft CTA. Looks fine. Still fails review because nothing on screen proves the claim.

I stopped writing shot lists as aesthetics. I write them as proof beats. If a beat doesn’t prove the one job from the brief, it doesn’t earn a generate.

What a proof beat is

A shot (or 3–5 seconds) where a skeptical viewer can see the thing is true. Not told. Seen.

“Fast setup” isn’t a proof beat. A timer on screen from signup → first result is.

How I build the shot list

  1. Steal the one job + proof line from the brief
  2. List 5 beats max for a ~40–55s piece
  3. Mark which beat is the proof beat (usually #3 or #4)
  4. Everything else only exists to set up or land that beat

Example shot list (SaaS editor demo):

  1. Hook — editor looking tired at a messy timeline
  2. Context — zoom on the mess (no voiceover speech yet)
  3. Process — one cleanup pass happening
  4. Proof scrub messy → clean with a simple on-screen “one pass”
  5. Land — face, one calm line, no feature parade

Beat 4 is the only reason the video exists. If that fails, regenerate beat 4. Don’t redo the whole film.

Where people waste credits

They generate beat 1 eight times because the lighting’s nicer. Nobody rejected the video for beat 1. They rejected it because proof never showed up.

Quick test before you open the model

Read the shot list out loud. Can you point to the proof beat without explaining? If you need a paragraph to justify a beat, cut it.
