Personally I don't want my resume online. I don't know whether the premium accounts is the real business model of Resume IO but it's easy to imagine bad things you could do with all that data.
I also don't want to use Word or a similar horror.
Instead I use this Vue.js generator that takes data from a configuration file and generates multiple HTML views that you can then export as PDF

So cool!
If they ask for it I have a resume made in word that I save as a PDF. When headhunted it isn't always they ask for a CV.
Nowadays I have my personal website I can refer to. I haven't listed any skills on it but I have a timeline describing workplaces I have worked at in a less formal way.
Nice website
I use Linux Libre Office Writer, and then just "Save As" PDF. If someone asks for a Word Doc I just politely remind them it's no longer the 1990s and send the PDF. :)
I have a CV I made in Word and export as PDF. Only give it out by demand, I don't leave that online (has potential private information).
And then I have a website, which is a blog and a small showcase of my work, and also there's LinkedIn where the experience is properly listed and looks more like an online CV than the website. I cross link between everything to make sure the employer's preference is visible and there to go to.
Great
I use LaTeX. As an academic, I need to include my publication list on my CV and easiest way to do that is bibtex.
Great!
