Mr Tom

I used to do things in jQuery, partly because it was easier to find a plugin for a certain piece of functionality a client wanted. Lately, unless jQuery or other framework is already part of the project, I try to go with a solution without additional dependencies. This is especially true with my own projects where I care about making load times and responses to actions happen quickly than with agencies, where a "get it done" attitude is more common.

A really useful resource for this sort of thing is youmightnotneedjquery.com, which offers replacements for common jQuery functions.

Additionally, writing in ES6 and transpiling to ES5 using Babel makes the whole experience of writing JS slightly less unpleasant.

I like the replacements, they may help me for getting the job done without worrying about the performance. And yes, ES6 is really great, even the syntax is refreshing.
Thanks for sharing these great ideas Tom ♥
