I Built a Chrome Extension That Fogs Away Distractions
We all know the problem. You open YouTube to watch one tutorial. Three hours later, you're watching a documentary about deep sea creatures.
I built a Chrome extension to fix this. It's called Fog of War.
How It Works
Instead of blocking sites entirely (which feels restrictive), Fog of War fogs them:
- Blur distractions with a glass effect
- Hover to reveal when you actually need something
- Remove entirely if you prefer cleaner interfaces
Three modes:
- Fog Mode - Blur distractions
- Stealth Mode - Remove them
- Zen Mode - Ultra-minimal reading view
Features
- 25-minute focus timer
- Works on every website
- Beautiful dark UI
- No data collection
- Buy once, own forever ($19)
Why Not Just Use a Focus App?
Most focus apps block entire sites. That's too aggressive:
- Sometimes you NEED YouTube for work
- Blocking creates anxiety
- You end up disabling it
Fog of War is different. It reduces noise without blocking access. You stay in control.
