When I joined dev.to, I wrote a post, and the next day 200+ followers. It has since grown to 969. However, I barely get views/responses on my posts. Thanks!

Pretty much, yes, and growing. Maybe the age of "followers" as we known it is over
That is sad! I don't know how many people actually LIKE me! :(
A lot of them are likely bots, sadly. :(
