I built a free home inventory app after realising I had no idea what I'd claim on insurance if something went wrong

A few months ago I had a conversation with a friend whose flat got broken into. The insurance company asked him for a detailed list of everything stolen — serial numbers, purchase dates, estimated values. He couldn't remember half of it and ended up getting a fraction of what he lost.

That stuck with me. I went home and thought — if my place burned down tonight, what would I tell my insurer? I had no idea.

So I built something to fix that. It's a simple home inventory app where you can:

  • Log all your belongings room by room
  • Store serial numbers and purchase dates
  • Get an AI estimate of current resale value
  • Take a photo and it auto-identifies the item
  • Export a proper insurance report as a PDF

It takes about 10 minutes to catalogue your most valuable stuff and it could save you thousands if something goes wrong.

I'd love honest feedback from anyone willing to try it — what's missing, what's confusing, what would make you actually use it day to day. Free to try, no card needed.

Happy to share the link in the comments if anyone wants it.
