Hey everyone, đź‘‹
As developers, we constantly rely on random web utilities—JSON formatters, mock data generators, disposable emails. But let’s be real: most of these sites are either packed with annoying display ads, have a generic "clean corporate" UI that blinds you at 2 AM, or they put basic features behind a paywall.
I wanted something different. I wanted a toolkit that felt like my terminal—dark, aggressive, fast, and straight to the point. No fluff, no ads, just raw utility.
So, I built Zlvox.
🎨 The Vibe: Neo-Brutalist & Privacy-First
I threw out the standard "SaaS UI playbook" and went full Neo-Brutalist.
High-contrast borders.
Pitch-dark themes.
Zero unnecessary animations.
The goal was simple: you open the site, paste your data or get your tool running, and get out in seconds. Most importantly, it is privacy-first. Your data stays yours.
🛠️ What I've Built Inside Zlvox So Far:
Instead of just releasing an empty shell, I've been actively coding tools that solve actual annoyances I face daily as a full-stack dev. A couple of my recent favorites are:
GhostMail: A totally free, fast disposable email generator. Perfect for testing auth flows without cluttering your personal inbox.
Data Forge: A custom mock data generator. I got frustrated juggling between Faker.js and Mockaroo, so I built my own version that generates massive amounts of structured dummy data and SQL instantly.
Plus a whole suite of client-side utilities (bug fixers, SQL generators, etc.) that run blazing fast.
đź’» The Stack
I built this ecosystem entirely from scratch. The front-end leverages vanilla HTML/CSS/JS to keep it incredibly lightweight and fast, while the backend and data logic run on PHP and MySQL. Getting the extreme neo-brutalist CSS to look perfect while keeping the tools functional was a fun challenge.
🤔 I need your brutal feedback!
Zlvox is live, but I am building it for us—the developer community.
I’d love for you to try it out: zlvox.com
What do you think of the Neo-Brutalist design? Is it too raw, or exactly what you like?
Try out Data Forge or GhostMail—what features are missing?
What specific dev tool should I build and add to Zlvox next week?
Drop your thoughts in the comments. I’ll be hanging around to answer any questions about the code, the design, or the struggle of building it solo! 🚀
