Earn $1000/Month Part-Time with Open Source Bounties 💸 🤑

Introduction:

Explore the digital landscape and transform your tech passion into a part-time income. Open source bounties, often overlooked, not only offer a chance to earn extra cash but also provide avenues for skill development and community collaboration.

Unlock an additional $1000 per month by venturing into open source projects, blending your love for technology with the potential for financial gain. This guide navigates you through the steps seamlessly.

Before moving forward, I'd like to share my Stripe payment dashboard. So far, I've successfully completed two bounties and received a total of $400. It's true – anyone with basic programming knowledge can easily earn through open source contributions.

Prerequisites:

  1. Github account
  2. Algora.io account
  3. Basics of git and github

Step-1: Create a Github account:

If you don't have a Github account, then create one by clicking on this link.

Step-2: Create an account on Algora:

The organisation facilitates rewarding the contributors 100% of the bounty amount. Payouts to contributors are usually issued within 1-3 business days following the completion of a payment.

Another way to look for bounties, is to go on Github.com, then paste is:issue is:open label:"💎 Bounty" in the search bar or click on this link. It will lead you to the filtered github search page as shown below.

Final Step: Choose a bounty to work on:

Choose an issue that aligns with your tech stack. Once you have chosen an issue to contribute, comment /attempt #issue_number as shown below:

Hold off on starting immediately; instead, wait until the maintainer assigns you. Keep in mind that many bounties come with specific time limits. Once the allotted time expires, you will be automatically unassigned, and the next contributor in the waitlist will be given the opportunity to address the issue.

It's advisable to inquire about the time limits from the maintainers. So, don't hesitate to ask them for clarification before starting the task.

Personal Tips ✨:

  1. Connect with the community on Discord, Slack, or Twitter. In case of doubt, seek help from the community to enhance your understanding and resolve any queries.

  2. Bounties are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. So be quick to apply/attempt for the issues that have bounties on them.

  3. Select bounties that align with your tech stack to avoid spending extra time understanding the project. This ensures you can complete the issue within the specified time frame.

  4. Bookmark this link or the algora dashboard to check on new bounties regularly.

Congratulations! 🎉 You've successfully completed a bounty and contributed to open source while earning extra income. Keep exploring new opportunities and building your skills in the tech landscape. I would love to hear about your experiences with bounty hunts in the comments section.
