Since 2022, every private-sector employee in the UAE works under an unlimited (indefinite) employment contract. The maximum probation period is 6 months. If either the employer or employee ends the contract during probation, the employee must generally give 14 days' notice, or 1 month's notice if moving directly to a new employer. After probation, standard notice periods of 30 to 90 days apply, as agreed in the contract.
