You need a bank loan, a family visa for your spouse, or you're switching jobs and your new employer's HR team asks for "an NOC from your current company." Two documents you may never have needed before, a salary certificate and a No Objection Certificate, suddenly stand between you and whatever you're trying to do.

A salary certificate is a formal letter on company letterhead confirming your job title, salary, and employment status, used mainly for bank loans, credit cards, and visa sponsorship proof of income. An NOC states your employer has no objection to something specific. Since Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 came into force, a private-sector employee no longer legally needs an employer NOC to change jobs, but NOCs are still commonly requested by banks and for non-employment purposes such as family visa sponsorship.
