Vertex AI (2021–2026) Is No More

On April 22, 2026, at Google Cloud Next in Las Vegas, Google announced that Vertex AI — their flagship machine learning platform — has been replaced by the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform.

This is not a rebrand. It is a complete structural rebuild.

"Competitors are handing you the pieces, not the platform." — Thomas Kurian, CEO Google Cloud

What Actually Happened

Vertex AI launched in 2021 as Google's unified ML platform. It served its purpose for five years — Model Garden, AutoML, custom training, pipelines. But the industry moved toward multi-agent systems, persistent memory, and tool orchestration. Vertex was not built for any of that.

April 22, 2026 — The Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform goes live. All Vertex AI features still exist under a "Models" sub-menu, but every new capability — Agent Studio, Agent Runtime, Memory Bank, Agent Gateway — ships exclusively to the new platform.

June 24, 2026 — The hard deadline. Deprecated Vertex AI Python SDK modules stop receiving updates.

The Key Details

A2A Protocol v1.2

Google's Agent2Agent protocol — the open standard that lets agents built on different platforms talk to each other — hit v1.2. Over 150 organisations are running A2A in production, including Microsoft, AWS, Salesforce, SAP, and ServiceNow. Governed by the Linux Foundation's Agentic AI Foundation.

$750M Partner Fund

Google committed $750 million to a partner fund accelerating Agent Platform adoption. The money flows through Accenture, Deloitte, PwC, and the big SIs.

200+ Models

Model Garden now hosts 200+ models including Gemini 3.1 Pro, Lyria 3, Gemma 4 (open), and third-party models like Anthropic's Claude Opus/Sonnet/Haiku.

The SME Gap No One Is Talking About

Here is the problem: big consultancies are chasing the $750M fund with £500K+ minimum engagements. They will not touch a £50K migration.

Meanwhile, thousands of SMEs and indie devs who adopted Vertex AI over the past five years are sitting on deprecated infrastructure with no affordable migration path.

That is the gap we fill.

The Solution

Google Agent Setup — from £299

Full migration from Vertex AI to Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. SDK updates, agent reconfiguration, A2A integration. Done in days.

Agent Readiness Assessment — from £499

We audit your current Vertex AI stack, identify everything that needs to change, and deliver a step-by-step migration roadmap.

No retainer. No minimum contract. Just a clear path before the June 24 deadline.

Bottom Line

"The agentic era is not coming. It is here. And Google just bet its entire cloud platform on it."

The biggest opportunity right now is not building agents. It is helping businesses move to the platform where agents live.

If you are running on Vertex AI today, you have until June 24. Do not wait for the consultancies to get back to you.
