Step 1: Install and configure the AI engine
Start by installing Nexu Link Brain and navigating to its settings. Under API Configuration, select your preferred AI provider (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, or DeepSeek) and enter your API key. The plugin encrypts credentials and tests the connection before saving, so you avoid misconfigurations.
For large sites, prioritize the embedding model, this determines how well the AI understands your content's meaning. A higher-quality model here means fewer irrelevant suggestions later.
Step 2: Define your content scope and linking rules
In the Settings tab, specify which post types to include (posts, pages, products, etc.) and set guardrails:
- Max links per post: Cap at 3 - 5 to avoid over-optimization.
- Min relevance score: Start with 70% to filter out weak matches.
- Anchor text policy: Block generic phrases like 'click here' and enforce diversity to prevent repetitive anchors.
Enable the Cross Post-Type Matrix if you want blog posts to link to products but not vice versa. This keeps your linking strategy aligned with your content hierarchy.
Step 3: Index your content for semantic analysis
Under the Indexing tab, start the background process to analyze your entire site. The plugin:
- Scans all published content (including custom post types).
- Maps existing internal links to avoid duplicates.
- Builds a semantic graph of topics, intent, and relationships.
For sites with 10,000+ posts, this runs in chained background requests, close your browser and return later. The progress bar updates in real time, and you'll receive a notification upon completion.
Step 4: Review AI suggestions in bulk or per-post
The plugin offers two workflows for applying links:
Bulk mode (for archives):
- Open the Bulk Linker tab and click Start Analysis.
- The AI scores potential links across your entire site, surfacing opportunities in a sortable table.
- Filter by relevance score, content type, or orphan status. Use the interactive graph to visualize connections before applying.
- Select Apply All for high-confidence suggestions (score > 85%) or review individually. Every batch is recorded in Batch History for easy undo.
Per-post mode (for new content):
- In the WordPress editor, open the Nexu Link Brain panel.
- Click Generate Suggestions to see ranked targets with explanations (e.g., *'This post about
