Over the past few months I've been building an experiment that I wanted to share.
I built a fully automated AI news website using Astro.
The interesting part isn't the website itself, but the automation behind it.
Everything runs automatically:
- Articles are generated by AI
- Images are generated automatically
- Internal linking is automated
- Sitemap updates automatically
- No manual publishing
I mainly wanted to see how Google and Bing react to a fully automated content pipeline if the technical SEO is done properly.
Google Search Console (last months)
- 20,233 impressions
- 109 clicks
- CTR: 0.54%
Monthly impressions:
February: 399
March: 1,662
April: 2,088
May: 4,039
June: 9,151
That's more than a 22x increase in Google impressions within a few months.
Bing Webmaster
Classic search:
- 2,347 impressions
- 39 clicks
- CTR: 1.66%
- Bing AI / Microsoft Copilot
This surprised me the most.
The site is already being used as a source inside Microsoft Copilot.
AI citations:
March: 57
April: 165
May: 212
June: 384
Different pages cited:
March: 36
April: 72
May: 82
June: 115
Some articles have already been cited more than 200 times by Copilot.
Technical SEO
Google Search Console coverage:
- 55 canonical pages
- 28 crawled but currently not indexed
- 13 404 pages
Overall the index health looks pretty good considering the publishing frequency.

I'm curious to see whether Google's trust in the domain keeps increasing as more content ages and starts ranking.
Next steps
I'm planning to add:
- affiliate links for AI tools
- Google AdSense
- additional structured data
- more internal linking
- continuous article updates
I'm especially interested in whether AI citations (Copilot, AI search, etc.) will become an important traffic source over the next year.
