We’ve all been there: you have a killer idea for a weekend project, but you spend more time navigating through "free tier" bait-and-switch pages—the ones that ask for your credit card "just for verification"—than actually writing code.
I got frustrated with the process, so I started keeping a personal list of APIs that are genuinely free, easy to use, and perfect for building portfolio projects without the headache. Eventually, I realized this shouldn't just be a note on my laptop, so I turned it into a repo: Essential Free APIs for Devs.
Why am I sharing this now?
To be completely honest, the repo is brand new. It has zero stars and zero views right now. It’s just me and a README file.
But I know how it feels to talk to the void on GitHub, and I also know how much a simple list like this can help someone who is just starting out or wants to build something fast. I didn’t want to wait until it was "perfect" or "popular" to share it.
