what exactly is Chat Control

Chat Control 1.0 is an EU regulation that lets messaging platforms voluntarily scan your communications for CSAM (child sexual abuse material). sounds reasonable until you realize:

it applies to ALL messages, not just suspicious ones
it doesnt require a warrant or any suspicion
platforms can scan encrypted messages too
the scanning is automated (AI-based, lots of false positives)
