- Research a niche before committing budget

2. Perplexity.ai — Best for research with citations

Google but with AI synthesis and cited sources. I use it before entering any new niche — a 5-minute Perplexity session tells me who's already in the space, what buyers search for, and what the real price points look like.
The key is asking it the question a buyer would Google, not the question you'd ask an analyst.
3. Groq — Best free API for builders
Free tier: ~14,400 requests/day on Llama 3.3 70B
Best for: Prototyping AI features, bulk text processing, fast inference
If you're building anything with AI — even a simple automation — Groq's free API tier is absurd value. It runs Llama models at ~800 tokens/second, and the free quota is enough for real production workloads at small scale.
I use it to batch-process customer research, auto-summarize feedback, and power the first-draft layer of content workflows. Zero cost until you're earning real money.
4. FLUX Schnell via Hugging Face Spaces — Best free image generation
Free tier: Unlimited (rate-limited but no hard cap)
Best for: Product mockups, social media visuals, landing page images
FLUX Schnell is the best free image model right now, and it runs for free on Hugging Face Spaces. No account required, no watermarks, commercial-use friendly via the open license.
I generate all my product cover images and social graphics here. The trick: describe the use context ("flat lay on white desk, product photography, 4K") not just the subject.
5. ElevenLabs — Best for voice and audio
Free tier: 10,000 characters/month (~10 minutes of speech)
Best for: Demo videos, product walkthroughs, content narration
ElevenLabs' free tier generates incredibly realistic speech. For solopreneurs, the main use case is short narrated demos or social video voiceovers — 10k characters is roughly one solid video script.
I've used it to narrate product walkthroughs that would otherwise need screen-recording + editing time.
6. Make.com (formerly Integromat) — Best free automation
Free tier: 1,000 operations/month, unlimited scenarios
Best for: Connecting apps, automating delivery, triggering workflows
Zapier gets all the press, but Make's free tier is more generous and the visual editor is actually better. I use it to:
- Auto-send Gumroad delivery confirmation emails
- Forward new sales notifications to a webhook
- Trigger content publishing workflows
1,000 operations/month sounds low, but smart scenario design makes it go far.
7. Canva Free — Best for design without a designer
Free tier: 1,000+ templates, unlimited designs (no Pro assets)
Best for: PDFs, social graphics, presentations, product assets
The gap between Canva free and Pro is smaller than Canva wants you to think. For digital products (PDF guides, templates, checklists), the free tier is completely sufficient.
My workflow: Claude writes the content → Canva formats it → the PDF becomes a sellable product. The whole thing takes 2-3 hours.

9. Otter.ai — Best for meeting intelligence
Free tier: 300 minutes/month transcription, basic summaries
Best for: Client calls, interviews, discovery sessions
300 minutes/month is about 5 hours of calls — enough for most solopreneurs. Otter auto-transcribes, identifies speakers, and generates summaries you can feed into Claude for action items.
For client work, having a searchable transcript of every call is a professional upgrade that takes zero extra time.
10. HuggingFace Spaces — Free AI tool playground
Free tier: Unlimited (community-hosted, rate-limited)
Best for: Trying models before paying, one-off image/audio/text tasks
HuggingFace Spaces hosts thousands of free AI demos — image upscalers, background removers, music generators, OCR tools, translation models. Before buying any AI tool subscription, check if there's a working Space that does the same thing.
My test: if I need a task done fewer than 5 times a month, there's usually a free Space for it.

- Make.com Core ($9/mo) — when I needed more than 1k ops
None of these before you're earning revenue from the stack. Prove it works for free first.

These tools are 10x more valuable chained together than used individually. My typical workflow:
