Short answer: yes, partly.
Slack Lists now has a board layout where items can be grouped into columns and moved between them. So if by "Kanban board" you mean a visual board with cards moving through stages, Slack can do that.
But there's an important distinction between having Kanban-style columns and having a full Kanban workflow.
Slack Lists as a Kanban board
Slack Lists lets you track work items with things like:
Assignees
Due dates
Status fields
Subtasks
Comments
Board-style columns
For a small team managing simple requests inside one Slack workspace, this can be enough.
You can, for example:
Todo → In Progress → Done
and move items between those stages.
Where it starts to differ from a dedicated Kanban tool
A delivery-focused Kanban workflow usually needs more than moving cards between columns.
Teams may also want to know:
How much work is currently in progress?
Where is work getting stuck?
Which stage is slowing delivery?
How much work was completed this week?
Which tasks have gone quiet?
How is work distributed across projects?
This is where Slack's native tracking becomes more limited.
Slack Lists can track individual items, but it doesn't provide the same workflow controls and delivery reporting you'd typically expect from a dedicated Kanban board.
What about Slack Canvas?
Slack Canvas can look a little like a board because it supports columns.
But Canvas is primarily a document surface. Its columns organize content on a page; they aren't workflow stages that cards move through.
If you want actual Kanban-style movement, Slack Lists' board layout is the relevant option.
So, do you need another tool?
It depends on what you're trying to manage.
Simple requests inside Slack?
Slack Lists may be enough.
A team workflow with ownership, WIP limits, timelines and delivery reporting?
A dedicated Kanban board connected to Slack can make more sense.
That's the approach we're taking with Otper: keep communication in Slack while using a dedicated board for the actual workflow and delivery tracking.
The important thing is not whether a tool technically has "Kanban."
It's whether it gives your team enough visibility into how work is actually moving.
Bottom line
Does Slack have a Kanban board? Yes — Slack Lists provides a Kanban-style board layout.
But if your team needs deeper workflow management and delivery visibility, you may need a dedicated Kanban board alongside Slack.
