Continuous band sealers come in two layouts, and picking the wrong one is a common mistake. The difference is simply how the pouch travels through the machine.
Horizontal band sealer
The pouch lies flat on its side on the conveyor and the open edge is fed into the bands.
Best for:
- Dry, light products such as tea, spices, dry fruits and snacks
- Flat pouches and small sachets
- Units where operators sit or stand at a table-height machine
Vertical band sealer
The pouch stands upright on the conveyor with the open mouth at the top.
Best for:
- Liquids, oils, pastes and loose powders that would spill if laid flat
- Heavier or fuller pouches that need support underneath
- Stand-up pouches
A quick test
Fill one of your pouches and lay it on its side. If the product starts moving towards the opening, you need a vertical sealer. If it stays put, a horizontal one will do and is usually easier to feed.
Same machine, two versions
Our CS900 is built in both layouts: the CS900L for flat bags and the CS900V for upright pouches. Both run on 220 V with a 650 W heater. Compare them here: CS900 horizontal and vertical band sealer
