We are told we are entering an era of "frictionless" creation, where coding agents write our software, LLMs draft our strategy documents, and automated pipelines curate our knowledge. The hardware to support this is staggering—NVIDIA’s Blackwell architecture and DGX SuperPODs promise to process trillion-parameter models at lightning speeds. But beneath the hum of these supercomputers and the dazzling efficiency of coding demos, a quiet crisis is brewing.

It is not the crisis of Skynet waking up. It is the crisis of humanity falling asleep.

We are witnessing the rise of "AI Slop"—a tsunami of low-quality, hallucinated, or mediocre content polluting our information ecosystems—and a behavioral phenomenon known as "Agent Psychosis," where over-reliance on AI tools detaches users from reality and critical thought. For leaders and knowledge workers, the challenge of the next decade is not just adopting AI, but surviving it with our cognitive and institutional faculties intact.

Researchers call this "vibe citing": the generation of references that look real and sound academic but point to papers that do not exist. If the world’s leading AI researchers are failing to vet the output of their own tools, what hope does a junior marketing manager have?

This phenomenon extends to software development. While AI agents like Claude Code or GitHub Copilot can prototype at superhuman speeds, they suffer from the "90% Problem." They excel at the first 90% of a task—the boilerplate, the rapid prototyping—but often fail catastrophically at the nuanced refinement required for production.

Without rigorous oversight, this leads to Code Bloat. As developer Armin Ronacher notes, the ease of generating code tempts teams to add features rather than fix bugs. AI is designed to bypass these. It offers an affordance for speed that erodes expertise. When a university student uses a chatbot to bypass the struggle of learning, or a manager uses an agent to bypass the struggle of consensus-building, the institution itself degrades.

We see this in the "Demo-to-Production Gap." A demo agent works perfectly in a controlled environment.
