How I keep track of every college I've spoken at (and why it matters more than it sounds)

After a handful of sessions, remembering which college heard which talk, and whether a follow-up happened, becomes genuinely hard without a system. A simple log fixes this permanently.

What goes in the log

  • College, date, format (talk, workshop, mentorship session), topic covered.
  • Coordinator name and contact — this is what makes a repeat invite a warm reintroduction instead of a cold one.
  • Any promised follow-up and whether it happened.
  • A rough outcome note, if you heard one — projects shipped, a club that grew, nothing heard back.

Why this matters more than it sounds

It's the difference between 'have I spoken here before?' being a guess and being an instant, confident answer — which matters the moment a coordinator writes 'we'd love to have you back'.
