On 19 October 2026, TikTok Shop opened "Sell Across EU" to UK sellers: one UK account can now list into 12 EU countries — Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Austria, Greece, Portugal and Hungary.
Most sellers' first experience of the programme is not excitement. It's a missing menu option. This article explains why that happens, in the order TikTok Shop itself describes the programme, based on the official Seller University page.
How eligibility actually works
TikTok Shop does not take an application for eligibility. It runs an automatic, real-time assessment of four criteria against your current account. If you pass all four, the option to expand appears in your seller dashboard. If one fails, nothing appears — and the platform does not send you a to-do list. That's why most sellers are stuck at step zero without knowing it.
The four criteria, one by one
1. Operating status. You must be an active local seller already onboarded in the UK market. If your UK shop is still in onboarding, eligibility is not a question yet — finish UK onboarding first.
2. Account health. Your account must be in good standing: not on any high-risk watchlist, not in a high-risk probation period.
3. Recent activity. Your shop must have active sales with completed deliveries within the last 30 days. Dormant accounts are not eligible. This is the criterion with the most forgiving fix — TikTok publishes it on the page itself: start selling again and complete deliveries within the last 30 days. Note the rolling window: "last 30 days" expires, so an activity that qualified you in October may not qualify you in November.
4. Financial standing. You must not have a significant outstanding negative balance. Again the published fix is simple: clear the negative balance first, then you're eligible to apply.
The application is a new application
Even after you qualify, expanding to the EU is treated as a new application going through standard validation review — and it can be rejected. TikTok says the rejection message will explain what needs correcting and how to reapply, and that the outcome does not affect your existing UK account. So a rejection is a fixable step, not a punishment.
Three things sellers get wrong right after approval
The 7-day clock. TikTok runs EU Targeted Checks on your business details, business representative information, identity documents and buyer-facing information. If an update is requested, you get 7 calendar days from day T to complete it. Miss the window and the seller account is completely deactivated. Assign an owner for these notices before you launch.
Probation carries over — and doesn't. If your UK shop has passed probation, your EU shop passes automatically. If not, your EU shop starts in probation and must follow each country's probation programme independently.
Independent scoring. Your EU shop's performance score (SPS/AHR) and settlement are evaluated separately from the UK shop. UK good standing doesn't shield EU performance, and EU cash flow runs on its own cycle.
Fulfilment details most sellers discover too late
The default is Ship by Seller: you pick the courier, you pay, you handle the customer when delivery goes wrong. Ship by TikTok may be available only if you have an overseas warehouse. Two deadlines matter: you have 2 working days to confirm, pack and label an order, and 7 working days to hand the parcel to the courier — or the order cancels itself. And the delivery deadline depends on the route: check the delivery SLA guide for your specific route before you promise a date.
Returns catch sellers even faster: the aftersales process is the same as domestic, but returns must go somewhere in the EU. Set your EU return destination in Seller Center when you edit your warehouse address — or choose Refund Only. Leave it unset and returns go to a local TikTok Shop return warehouse at your cost.
What to do next
Start with the eligibility check — it's free and it tells you the one thing everything else depends on: our free eligibility checklist. When you're ready to prepare the whole expansion — the full eligibility worksheet, the 12-country compliance check, product data, fulfilment setup and the launch sequence — the Launch Kit is here: Sell Across EU Launch Kit.
Programme rules as of October 2026, per TikTok Shop's Seller University page; the platform may change them at any time. This article is information, not advice — eligibility and approval are decided by TikTok Shop alone.
