🌟 6 OSS startups offering smoother paths for contributors 🧑‍💻

Hey friends! 👋

For this week's article, we will dive into 6 OSS startups offering smoother paths for contributors. 👇

Image description

If this is your first time reading our content, a warm welcome! My name is Bap, and I'm the DevRel Lead at Quine. 👋

At Quine, we are constantly on a quest to discover the hidden gems within the open-source ecosystem! Talking about Quests, we released Package Quests, an initiative inviting developers to build a coding project around a specific theme.

Our latest Quest, quest-008, invites you to build an app to help people have fun! The event is open to any developer ready to leverage their skills & creativity to win cash prizes. 💰

If you enjoy building, learning, and winning rewards for coding exciting projects, head to Quine and get cracking!

Having said that, let us now explore the 6 accessible OSS startups we think you can start contributing to today. 👇

Methodology 🔎

At Quine, we developed DevRank, or developer rank, to measure a developer's reputation and impact in the open-source ecosystem.

Equipped with our DevRank metric (more on this here), we looked at influential open-source startups with more than 2000 stars where the level of contributors' DevRank was lower than the average.

To be precise, we analysed each repo's contributors and calculated each project's median DevRank percentile. After ranking them and doing some hand-picking, we found the below OSS startups. 👇

Note: We recognise that DevRank is not a perfect metric but can act as a good proxy for the experience level of open-source contributors.
