There’s something exciting about a hackathon that you can’t really understand until you experience one.
The countdown starts, laptops open, teams gather around a table, someone is already debugging something that worked five minutes ago, and suddenly 26 hours don’t feel like enough.
That is the kind of experience HackSpire’26 is bringing to Kolkata this October.
Organized by the FIEM ACM Student Chapter, HackSpire’26 is a 26-hour, in-person hackathon where technology, creativity, collaboration, and culture come together under one powerful idea:
Where Innovation Meets Shakti.
And honestly, the theme is what makes this edition stand out.
🌺 More Than Just Another Hackathon
Hackathons usually revolve around one simple idea — build something useful within a limited amount of time.
HackSpire takes that idea and adds something deeper to it.
This edition draws inspiration from the spirit of Shakti and the cultural energy of Durga Puja, connecting modern technology with stories, ideas, and traditions that have been part of our culture for generations.
The idea isn't to choose between tradition and technology.
It is to see what happens when the two meet.
Just like Goddess Durga represents different forms of strength through her ten arms, HackSpire’26 gives participants different directions to explore technology and solve problems.
You choose your battlefield.
Then you build.
🔱 Six Themes. Six Ways to Create.
HackSpire’26 has six technology themes, each carrying its own concept inspired by Indian mythology.
👁️ AI — Divya Drishti
Divya Drishti, or Divine Sight, represents the ability to see what others might miss.
In this track, participants can explore Artificial Intelligence, neural networks, computer vision, and intelligent systems to tackle real-world problems.
Think about technology that can identify patterns, understand images, predict outcomes, or help people make better decisions.
The goal isn't simply to add “AI” to a project.
It's about using intelligence to actually solve something.
⚖️ Blockchain — Dharma & Trust
Blockchain is built around an idea that the digital world constantly needs:
Trust.
The Dharma & Trust theme focuses on decentralized and transparent systems using technologies such as smart contracts and Web3 protocols.
Whether it's creating more transparent transactions, decentralized platforms, digital ownership systems, or new ways of building trust online, this track gives builders plenty of room to experiment.
Because sometimes, innovation isn't about creating more.
It's about creating systems people can trust.
🛡️ Cybersecurity — The Divine Shield
Every powerful digital system needs protection.
That's where The Divine Shield comes in.
Inspired by the protective strength of Devi, this theme challenges participants to think about how we can defend our digital world against threats.
From secure applications to privacy-focused solutions and systems designed to identify or prevent attacks, cybersecurity is all about staying one step ahead.
The digital world has its own Asuras.
Your job is to build the shield.
🌾 Agriculture — Blessings of Annapurna
Technology doesn't only belong in offices, smartphones, or data centers.
It can also change the way we grow food.
Inspired by Annapurna, the theme focuses on building sustainable solutions for agriculture using technologies such as IoT and data analytics.
Imagine smarter farming systems, better resource management, data-driven decisions, or technology that helps make agriculture more sustainable.
The problem is real.
The impact can be even bigger.
🤖 Robotics — Yantras of Vishwakarma
What if your idea could move beyond the screen?
The Yantras of Vishwakarma theme is all about robotics and automation.
Participants can design systems that interact with the physical world — machines that assist, automate, monitor, respond, or perform tasks intelligently.
This is where software meets hardware.
And where an idea doesn't just run on a laptop.
It moves.
🎮 Gaming — The Grand Maya
And then there's The Grand Maya.
Gaming isn't just about entertainment anymore.
With technologies such as AR, VR, interactive storytelling, and immersive experiences, games can create entirely new ways for people to learn, explore, communicate, and experience stories.
This track is for those who want to build new worlds rather than simply use existing ones.
So if you've ever thought, “What if a game could be something completely different?”
This might be your space.
⚡ 26 Hours to Turn an Idea Into Reality
HackSpire’26 isn't going to give you months to perfect your project.
You get 26 hours.
That's part of the challenge.
You might begin with a rough idea.
Then comes the research.
Then the design.
Then development.
Then the inevitable bug that appears at the worst possible moment. 😭
Then testing.
Then fixing everything again.
And eventually, hopefully:
“Okay… it actually works!”
But that's what makes hackathons special.
You're not expected to create a perfect product overnight.
You're expected to take an idea, test it, improve it, and see how far you can take it.
🧠 You Don't Have to Be the Best Coder in the Room
One thing I really like about hackathons is that they're not just about programming.
A good project needs more than code.
Maybe one person is great at development.
Someone else understands UI/UX.
Another person knows how to work with AI or hardware.
Someone can explain the idea beautifully during the final presentation.
And another teammate keeps everyone from completely losing their mind at 3 AM. 😭
That's teamwork.
And sometimes the most valuable thing you learn at a hackathon isn't a new framework.
It's learning how to work with people who think differently from you.
🌐 From 4,100+ Registrations to Another Chapter
HackSpire already has a strong history behind it.
The previous edition received 4,100+ registrations, with hundreds of builders making their way to the in-person event and dozens of teams reaching the final stage.
Now HackSpire’26 is taking that community forward.
This time, the event brings together developers, designers, problem-solvers, and technology enthusiasts for a completely in-person experience at FIEM in Kolkata.
And that's important.
Because some of the best parts of a hackathon happen away from your laptop.
A random conversation can lead to a better idea.
A mentor can point out something you never considered.
Another team can inspire you.
And someone you meet during those 26 hours might end up becoming your future teammate, co-founder, or friend.
🌱 Come With an Idea. Leave With an Experience.
Of course, winning would be amazing.
A prize, recognition, swag, and certificates are always great.
But there's something else you get from participating.
You leave with something you built.
Maybe it's your first serious project.
Maybe it's your first hardware prototype.
Maybe you finally get to experiment with AI.
Maybe you learn how blockchain actually works instead of just hearing about it.
Or maybe you simply discover that you can build much more than you thought you could.
That's a pretty good outcome too.
🔥 So, What Will You Build?
HackSpire’26 gives you six directions:
Divya Drishti.
Dharma & Trust.
The Divine Shield.
Blessings of Annapurna.
Yantras of Vishwakarma.
The Grand Maya.
Six themes.
Six different interpretations of technology.
One common idea — Shakti.
The strength to experiment.
The courage to try something different.
The curiosity to learn.
And the determination to keep building when things don't work the first time.
That's what makes the theme of HackSpire’26 more than just a tagline.
It becomes the mindset behind the hackathon.
🚀 Ready to Build With Shakti?
HackSpire’26 will take place on October 2–3, 2026, at FIEM, Kolkata, as a 26-hour in-person hackathon. Participation is free, and teams can have 2–4 members.
So gather your people.
Pick your theme.
Start thinking about the problem you want to solve.
And when the clock starts, don't worry about building something perfect.
Just build something meaningful.
Because this October, HackSpire isn't asking you to choose between technology and tradition.
It's asking a much more interesting question:
What can you create when innovation meets Shakti?
See you at HackSpire’26. ⚡🔱
Hack. Build. Inspire.
