PDF Compare: Find Exactly What Changed Between Two PDF Versions, Free

a new version of a PDF, the question is always the same: what actually changed? Scrolling
through both files side by side and hoping you spot the difference doesn't scale, and most

What it does

Upload an "Original" and a "Modified" PDF, and the tool aligns their pages automatically
even if pages were added, removed, or reordered between versions. For each page it reports
one of four states:

• Identical — no changes on this page
• Changed — content differs, with a line-level text diff (added/removed/unchanged)
• Added — a page that exists only in the modified file
• Removed — a page that existed only in the original

For pages where the text is identical but something visual moved — a logo, a signature, a
chart, a stamp — PDF Compare falls back to a real pixel-level visual diff and highlights the
changed regions. This also covers scanned documents that have no extractable text at all: if
both pages are image-based, it compares the rendered pixels directly rather than giving up.
Three sensitivity presets (low/medium/high) let you tune how much visual noise counts as a
real change, useful for scans with slight skew or compression artifacts.

How to use it

1. Upload the original PDF and the modified PDF.
2. Pick a visual sensitivity level (medium works for most documents).
3. Click Compare. Each page renders with a status badge — identical, changed, added, or removed — plus the specific text or visual diff for that page.

Files are capped at 50MB and 40 pages per file to keep the comparison fast, and nothing is
stored after processing.
