Looking for App Ideas: Need Inspiration from the Dev Community! 🚀

Hi Dev Community! 👋

I’m currently looking to start a new project and would love to get some inspiration from you all. I’m open to ideas for either a mobile app or a web app—something creative, fun, or even something that solves a real-world problem.

I’d love to work on something that could challenge me or help people in some way. Bonus points if it involves a cool API or tackles an interesting problem!
What’s an app idea you’ve always wanted to see built? Or maybe something you’ve been thinking about but haven’t had the time to create?

I’d appreciate your input—thanks in advance! 🙌

Well, here's a suggestion - during a flight I get extremely bored... I have a number of distractions on my mobile, but I get bored with them too :)

Anyway, one of these distractions is - to do a bit of dead reckoning - a very simple form of navigation where you basically use a timer and compass (I'm oversimplifying here - see the link for more) to get an idea about where you are at the moment. It's really about doing the mental arithmetic 'cos I have nothing else to do, and with time I've made it more and more challenging - before the flight I'd look for wind vectors along the way, got an app that has air route charts, etc. :)

Now, when it comes to a mobile app that tells me the progress of the flight I should point out that, if it exists - it will ruin my experience - doing the maths myself is the whole point, but - maybe it can give you an inspiration for something completely different... Who knows :)

Online you can find charts, with waypoints, you can extract vectors, you can also find weather data... You've also got a bunch of sensors on mobiles, you can get data during the flight from them ... You can try to combine charts/vectors with sensors...

Note: I doubt the quality of the compass in an aircraft, but when it comes to accelerometer-based signals - I think during a flight these will be completely useless. I'm not a mobile developer though.

Anyway, hope it helps! :)

If you are wasting time trying to track down the cause of a crash, it’s time for a better solution. Get your crash rates to zero (or close to zero as possible) with less time and effort.

Try Sentry for more visibility into crashes, better workflow tools, and customizable alerts and reporting.
