Do you have a developer portfolio that could use a second set of eyes?
In a few weeks I'll be doing my second annual portfolio review livestream on my YouTube channel.
Last year's session was a smash success and I'm excited to review even more portfolios this year!
Here is our livestream from last year:
Some things I assess during the review:
- First impressions
- Messaging
- UX/UI
- Projects: strengths & improvement areas
- Contact forms
- Browser compatibility
- More
It takes a lot of bravery to put your work in front of the world, but in return you will get a ton of practical, actionable advice from a working software developer who's helped developers just like you land a dev job.
Sound interesting? Leave a link to your portfolio in the comments below.
Alternately, you can send it via email (realtoughcandy at gmail dot com).
The deadline for submission is Thursday, January 7th at 11 pm CST.
The exact time of the livestream will be announced soon, on the following platforms:
- Dev.to
- My Community tab on YouTube
- RealToughCandy.io
Be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel so you don't miss the stream!
Looking forward to it!

Note: I'm backend developer and front end Is not my strong suit. Thus, I'm working on show casing my backend skills. This portfolio is about me being able to control a major part of my site from an admin panel. For now, I am using a template customised to my needs.
PS: It is work in progres.
Love the article! I just read it today. I hope I'm not late to post my portfolio. I just get stuck in from the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, because of learning deep-diving into advanced programming (Still on JS).

Happy New Year to everyone! Stay safe, always.
That's a really interesting idea, thank you for doing this.
I've recently added a CV section to my personal site and have been doing some work to try and improve the performance / accessibility across the site. It's a bit light on content still, but I would definitely appreciate some feedback.

It is built with Gatsby. I am not focusing on frontend web dev so my website probably looks a lot lamer compare to some other people. It would be great if I can get some feedback on how to improve!
Hello. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
It takes indeed bravery to put yourself out for criticism but as you said constructive feedback is the best we could get.
